We had the good fortune of connecting with Dez Ferrell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dez, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I think the single most important factor to my success is to always try. There are plenty of obstacles and even opportunities that I come across that absolutely terrify me. That make me question the purpose and direction I want to go in life. But I’ve always attempted / tried / and either I’ve failed or succeeded. To me failing isn’t scary it’s just a stepping stone to get one step closer to success.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I own a custom paint and automotive restoration shop. I can paint anything custom. I’m most known for using metal flake and candy paints. I was on the tv show “Bitchin Bootcamp” where I competed against other skilled tradesmen across the country. I think my success has a lot to do with promoting and helping others succeed just as much as me. By lifting them up and offering them opportunities has opened many doors for me to get closer to my goals.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I come from Idaho where there’s canyons, rivers, waterfalls and mountains so my favorite places here in Arizona usually include trips to Sedona, flagstaff, or anywhere that nature is the focal point. The city does offer beautiful street art and small places to eat and drink downtown that unless you’re walking, you’ll never know it was there. Those are my favorite types of places.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people to thank in my journey. From my parents supporting my decision to work in the trades, to my instructor who was an amazing mentor. To my kids who keep me pushing each day to not fail. To all the companies who support the classes I teach and help supply products for me to do so and most of all to my amazing guy Bullet’s Speed & Kustoms who has given me that push and help to find my passion again. To not throw in the towel and keep trying.
