Meet Syed Tirmizi | Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Syed Tirmizi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Syed, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Thought process was simple. Either keep working for someone else and help rich get richer or take better control and start working for yourself to provide better future for family.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am currently a manager at tech company. Where internal title is People’s manager. I got promoted to this role May 2021 after being with the company for a year.
I’ve been in leadership role for little over 16 years now.
I moved to US in Feb 2014 with some savings to start my life from scratch. Being an immigrant and not knowing the US market it was tough to decide which route to take and avoid as many mistakes as possible. I faced challenges in every role with my first job in US where I was employed for 5yrs 2months. I was promoted 6 times. Despite of money and promotions, one thing I enjoyed the most was helping/mentoring others to achieve more in their career. I’m proud to say that I was the only manager that helped his 11 employee get promoted to next level within 12 months.
I was at the point after 5 years that I was doing same thing again n again everyday without learning anything new. I knew it’s time for me to part ways and not be comfortable. I then joined the tech industry where I’m currently employed.
Going back to what I learned from the book “Can’t hurt me” is to I need to keep myself in check everyday and hold myself accountable for what I’m doing and if it is align with my goals. I start e-commerce business in Nov 2020 where during pandemic it was a risk but I had to take it. Fast forward now I have 2 e-commerce businesses that are doing very well. I turned my passion for Rottweiler dogs into business and started my Kennel 2 years ago which I have grown in 2 years that we had to move to a bigger facility.
An immigrant who didn’t know anyone moved to US with saving of $2k started from scratch 8 years ago. Now I am proud to say that I own multiple business and properties.
I love the land of opportunities.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would start our trip from Sedona to Flagstaff then to Grand Canyon. Explore hiking trails and do some glamping along the way.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shout to my dad who showed me to never give up. Gave me the motivation to keep striving to be the best in anything I do.
In 2017 my mentor/friend Sam Siaki gave me an audible book on Christmas “Can’t Hurt me” by David Goggins. After listening to that book it changed my thought process even more and pushed me to do more in life.
