We had the good fortune of connecting with Tylene Nichols and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tylene, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand is something that is tossed around a lot in the business world: it is my ‘Why’.

When making decisions for my dance studio, I have to reflect on my ‘Why’. This is how I am able to create the environmet that I desire for my dancers. This is the reason I have found such incredible staff members who are just as dedicated to the brand as I am.

So what is my ‘Why’?
Every child deserves to feel confident in their abilities. My dance studio is an area where children can face challenges daily and learn to overcome them with their own strength and skills. The feeling of achieving the ‘impossible’ creates a fire inside them like nothing else does. They are confident, they are strong, and they are ready to do what it takes to grow into the inspiring adults they want to me.

That is why my brand is successful.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What makes me most excited about dance is the opportunities that we get to give to our students. To me, dance is not so much about perfection and precision. It is about enjoying movement and challenging your body to grow and develop talents you never thought were even possible. When you are able to achieve something incredible, you want to share it! So we do. We take as many opportunities to let our dancers shine in the spotlight as possible. They get to truly feel like a star, and everyone loves that feeling.

Professionally, I was never the best dancer myself. I was never the most technically accurate or the most flexible or the most strong. What I ALWAYS was, was happy. After over a decade of dance instruction, I was able to have a solid foundation of dance technique in multiple styles and areas. It has given me such an appreciation for the variations that dance can be presented in, which I love to share with my dance students. If they learn anything from me, it is that you never have to be THE best. But you should always work to be YOUR best.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Tucson is definitely home of some incredible food! I could easily just take a friend around town for a food tour and be perfectly happy. Other ideas are mostly from other small locally owned businesses that truly love the opportunities to create a unique experience. We would go visit Pam’s Fizzy Factory for a fun little mani-pedi, hit the Reid Park Zoo which is an INCREDIBLE location. Though it is not my favorite part of Arizona, there is so much dessert around that some people absolutely adore which can be fun to go look at.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
When I was presented with the chance to become CEO of Centre Stage Dance Studio, my first answer was… No.

I kind of laughed at the idea. There was no way I would be able to run a business.

It was one friend specifically that inspired me to change my mind. She immediately thought it was an amazing idea. She helped me understand what kind of a positive influence these dancers could have, and how I truly could change the lives of hundreds of children for the better. It is what saved me as a child, and I had the opportunity to give that same gift to others as well.
