Meet Chasity Meyers | Crafter & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chasity Meyers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chasity, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have always loved crafting and creating something out of nothing. When our Pitbull, Angel, passed away of cancer in 2016 this was when I decided to make Angel’s Custom Gifts an official business. She was our world and losing her was so hard. I wanted to make sure that others had items to memorialize their pets after they were gone and also be able to honor them while they are still with us. This business has grown to mean so much to so many and we are constantly growing and creating new items to help our customers with the joy and sorrow of being a pet parent.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Angel’s Custom Gifts is all about helping the pet parent cope with the loss of a pet and honoring the pet while they are still on this Earth. Being a pet parent has many ups and downs and we create high-quality, custom creations for pet parents throughout each of those stages. I’ve gotten where I am today with the support of my family and with extreme perseverance. Being a creative entrepreneur is not easy because we put our heart into each item that we create, and this can be hard when we are putting ourselves out there risking the rejection of our craft by others. I have learned that this rejection will come and the best way to overcome it is to learn from it and grow with it. The biggest lesson I have learned throughout the years is to always be willing to grow and change but also you must always remain rooted in your values as a business owner. With Angel’s Custom Gifts, that value has and always will be to help pets and pet parents in each stage of their journey and to give back to the community every chance you get. We actively look for local dog rescues to help and donate money to by giving 10% of our sales back to the rescue. We are currently working with Arf-Anage Dog Rescue in Maricopa, AZ.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My family and I love to try new restaurants when we can. We are always looking for new small mom-and-pop type shops and restaurants to try in the Phoenix Valley. One of my favorite restaurants to eat at is Two Hands in Mesa, AZ when we are out that way. I also enjoy going to museums and really like the Dwarf Museum in Maricopa, AZ along with the House of Flames Museum in Phoenix, AZ. In the Arizona winters, I love to go out and enjoy nature. My favorite things to do are to hike and explore different areas such as hiking the Superstition Mountains.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family has been my biggest supporter throughout everything. My husband and my parents have helped keep me motivated when I thought I couldn’t do it any longer and they have been cheering me on from the beginning. Their support means so much and I would not be where I am today without them.
