Meet April Seed | Skylark Studios Owner and Instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with April Seed and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi April, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started Skylark Studios to create a place that was much more than somewhere to workout/do aerial. I wanted it to be a studio where friendships are made and a community is built. Where we can laugh and create.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My entrance into the artistic world began as professional singer and musician. Something that still brings so much joy to my life. But when the world shutdown and live music wasn’t back out there in the public eye I dove more into the aerial side of things. Taking my passion for music and combining it with movement has been such a magical journey for me, Now with Skylark we create this fun and creative shows that we perform for friends and family. Acts that took months to form. I don’t know what I love more now, creating these shows or performing in them.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of the first places I tend to take people is to downtown Mesa. I absolutely love this area and how much it supports the arts in all forms. We would begin the day at The Nile Cafe for breakfast/brunch, then checkout the fun antique shops. In the afternoon we would go to Jarrod’s where there is usually always local music being performed from the stage. His shop also is covered entirely in local artwork. After that a fun trip up north to either Jerome, Sedona, Payson or Flagstaff. Just being outside there while enjoying the local wineries or restaurants is always fun. Also, so much history!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My studio wouldn’t exist without my amazing clients and husband. I am grateful to every single person that supports Skylark and their loyalty and trust means the word to me.
