Meet Angela Shaba, PhD | Performance Counselor & Fertility Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Shaba, PhD and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angela, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Fiercely Fertile was born from both my professional and personal journey. As a business owner who already had an established counseling private practice with a specialty in sports performance, I was supporting athletes and helping them succeed in their sport. After I received a fertility diagnosis that determined having a child of my own was going to be nearly impossible I sought out ways to support my mental health and my mindset. I looked to my own professional background for help. I began to connect my mind and body to support both my mental health and fertility by using the same sports performance techniques that I use with the athletes I work with. And that is how Fiercely Fertile developed. After going through my own difficult fertility journey I wanted to help other women who were experiencing the same challenges I did. Infertility is such a difficult journey for many and is also an unspoken journey for many. There is limited support, so I decided to develop online courses and personalized coaching to help women through this difficult time. I now help women going through fertility treatments connect their mind and body and reduce their stress so they can optimize their fertility and feel more in control through their fertility journey.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Fiercely Fertile grew from professional and personal experience. I take my performance background coupled with my journey through infertility and IVF to help women who are struggling with fertility. What sets me apart from others is that I have both the professional and personal background to help support those going through infertility. Infertility is such a difficult journey for many but is also unspoken for many. There is limited support, so I decided to develop online courses and personalized coaching to help women through this difficult time.

Building a business is not easy, there were a lot of struggles along the way, but they were all worth it! It takes time, patience, and dedication to build a business. Networking and connection were always important to me. I started the business from the ground up and put much effort into networking and making strong connections with referral sources here in the valley.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Phoenix is such a great city! There are a ton of great restaurants throughout the city. You can head to Old Town Scottsdale and then go to Downtown Phoenix and experience something totally new and fun. Pizzeria Bianco is a favorite of mine! The Arizona Ballet, the Phoenix Suns, The Arizona Cardinals and the Diamondbacks. Spring training is also so much fun. Hiking trails are a must and just enjoying all the nice weather we have here in the valley!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people who have supported me along my journey. I find it is so important to network and connect with others in your industry. I would like to thank my family and close friends for all their love and support during the difficult times. Sometimes the most important part of building a business is the ability to have those around you not only support your efforts but believe in your ability to succeed.
