We had the good fortune of connecting with Shae Coon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shae, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Listening and being honest with clients– not charging them an arm and a leg but still giving the quality work helps too😁

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think what sets me apart is that I actually give a damn about helping authors who are on a shoe string budget and can’t spend hundreds of dollars to get a quality cover. I’m honestly not in it for a profit.

I’m self-taught both in writing and digital book design, but I’ve had a lot of people willing to give me feedback. I overcome the challenges by remembering this is just a way to be creative. I don’t have to be super famous or well known to put my work out there.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Hmmm. That would be Andrew Biernat and his wife Michelle Hertzburg, so I would give them the true classic Texas tour of the stockyards, of course.

I would definitely take them to a Dallas Stars hockey game and end the night at a good steakhouse.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Geez, so many. My family of course. But if I had to pick one particular person in my life who has been a huge cheerleader for me, it would be author GM Katz.
