Ryan & Sara Vowell | Owners & Trainers

We are a husband and wife team with over 10 years of personal training experience. After spending years in corporate careers, we began to see the unhealthy effects it had on lifestyle, family and friends. We made it our passion to help others improve the quality of their lives through fitness and nutrition. Our dream was to create a place where people could come together as a community to empower one another and make each other stronger than they were yesterday. Green Zone Fitness is where everyone from beginners to advanced athletes can come to get a results-driven workout in a fraction of the time… and price. Green Zone Fitness is an all-encompassing private gym and group training studio where members can come to achieve their goals in a sustainable way. We understand the demands of a busy schedule and have created workouts for maximum effectiveness and saving clients time in the gym. Read more>>

Marilee Dose | Founder & CEO

Dose Moving and Storage created a 501(c)3 called Dose of Hope. Every quarter our employees fill bags called “Paddy’s Purse” for Dose of Hope and we spend an entire day canvassing the city and handing out the bags. The most important aspect of the bags is the resources that are inside the bag. The homeless population can get, free health care, free dental, free vision, free cell phone and free food. They also have access to transition off of the street to CASS (Central Arizona Shelter Services). Once they have a bed at CASS, we work with them to transition them into employment and housing by working with Furnishing Dignity to provide them a stable environment. To date we have passed out over 6,000 bags. CASS provides 800 beds per night. And 600 homeless and families have been placed in permanent housing. We help pick up and deliver the furniture items that are necessary to furnish the residences. Many people it is their first time of owning their own bed. Together we can make a difference and change the world. Read more>>

Cara Nicole | Cosplayer, Artist & Entertainer

This is a very interesting question. With the vast amounts of huge companies that maximize their profits while minimally paying employees, thriving on tax breaks, and abusing government subsidies, I find it odd that you would ask a small business how they help the world. Why would this question be directed at a small struggling business as if to imply that we have little value while corporate overlords abuse communities, our environment, and more? That being said, I support other small businesses and use them whenever I can as well as try to stick with environmentally friendly companies. With my flexible schedule, I am able to be there to help people one on one. Sometimes a listening ear can make a huge impact in someone’s life. I mentor others and help them to grow their own businesses as well as pay my employees a fair wage. I promote creators giving them an advantage wherever I can. I also do whatever Legislative work I can in regard to family law reform. Read more>>

Maggie Carvalho | Hairstylist & Yoga Teacher

I like to think of my business and skills as a conduit into making people feel good about themselves. Whether it’s a client getting their hair done or a student taking yoga, a small break from our reality can make a big difference. My hope is that I allow people to be themselves and enjoy their time while in my space. I think finding these moments of joy and esteem are what life is all about. Even if temporary or small. Yoga creates community and connection with like minded individuals. While my eco-friendly hair products keep my business’s carbon footprint small as well as provide a safe alternative to traditional hair color and products. Read more>>
