Meet Martha Felix | Portrait Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Martha Felix and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Martha, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
I have found that pushing myself to practice new things as often as I can, has helped me succeed. The best way to learn something new is to try it for myself. I have been very blessed by the Facebook group I created back in 2015 that is all about trying new things. Just For Fun Shootouts is a community I created on Facebook of local Arizona Photographers where I host a shoot that is our of our norm and we go and photograph models in new locations, network and just have fun. I have used this group to get my creativity flowing and also use it to practice new things.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being able to provide an unforgettable experience for my clients is my goal for every session. From the first phone call to their reveal, my goal is to help them see themselves at their highest! When my clients come into my studio, the first thing they do is look at all of the gowns I have for them to wear during their session. They can choose from simple to full glam. This part always feels like an amazing day at the mall trying on everything in sight. Picking as many gowns as they like is one of their favorite parts of the experience. The Makeover is their second favorite. I have an in house hair and make up artist that helps make them look that much more beautiful! By the end of the makeover they feel empowered, strong, and fierce! During the session we turn up the music and create portraits that will last a lifetime! For me, it has always been about helping woman feel their best. If I can do something to show them just how amazing they are, then I know I have done my job. I believe the experience my clients receive is what sets me apart.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
SEDONA!! It is my absolute favorite city in all of Arizona! There is so much to do and so much to see there. West Fork at Oak Creek and Cathedral Rock are my two favorites but honestly, no matter where you go there, it is always breathtaking!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people who have helped me get to where I am today. From my family to my friends, if it wasn’t for their support, I don’t know where my business would be. I went to The Art Institute of Seattle where I was taught so much of what I use today. Now 8 years later I am using Sue Bryce Education to get me that much further into my career. I strongly believe that we should never stop learning and I am excited to continue doing so.
