How did you choose a creative path?

Deciding to pursue an artistic or creative career path isn’t for the faint of heart. Challenges will abound, but so many of the artists we speak with couldn’t be happier with their choice. So, we asked them about how they made the decision in the first place.
I grew up in a beautiful home, with a mother who loved decorating, crafting, and helping others. I’ve always considered myself a creative person—always interested in making something. After getting married, I soon learned that Jonathan had major handyman skills. We combined our talents and created a place to share our experience as first-time homeowners. I’m half Dutch half Spanish. My Spanish grandmother always used to sew. She would sit in the kitchen behind her big table. The whole family (a traditionally Spanish large one) would bring their clothes to her. Even when strolling outside if she saw a dress that someone was wearing which she liked, she could make an exact replica of it. Even without having the patterns. That is how I got my flamenco dress as a kid. A true gift of working with your hands, is how I see it. Read more>>
