We had the good fortune of connecting with Adam Rick and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adam, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
Try anything twice! It means the first time may of just been a bad experience so give it another try!
If you judge everything at first glance you may lose a lot of opportunities.
It throws people off guard because the saying is “I’ll try anything once”.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
It’s a small business selling pasture raised meats online and locally in the south eastern Wisconsin area.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Pending the time of year, the southern kettle moraines are beautiful! The folded hills and valleys always seem cozy and welcoming to me. The old hard woods seem to hold you tight when you need that friend. We also have a historical park called old world Wisconsin. Where the old buildings and guides dressed in period clothes teach people of the old skills our ancestors once did every day. Finally I know of a secret little county park called ledge park, it’s a cliff that rises out of the flat area around it. Holding large boulders and beautiful old woods. Some trees are giants. This cliff overlooks the Horicon marsh, this marsh hold lots of wildlife as well as some incredible trails and interpretive centers. The native people use to build mounds and can bring you back to a time closer to nature. As far as food, I love to cook so I’ll probably be cooking my pasture meats, burgers that have a great flavor, smoked pasture chicken and forest raised pork chops. Garnished with vegetables from my garden or the wild edibles we cam across. I would probably take you to the cabin to meet my business partners, the Amish, and see the animals while knowing we are in the heart of the land that inspired John Muir the founder of the sierra club into being so in love with the outdoors.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Mom she taught me how to cook and gave me a love of growing things and having the determination during her divorce to my father. Long story short….. she built a huge garden in the back yard to help feed her to children and dug it up all by hand.
