We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah/Mo Alexander/Flores and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah/Mo, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Best friends, Mo Flores and Sarah Alexander, both left public education and decided to pursue careers in higher education. They were both content with their new career paths but felt like they need something “more”. This was the summer of 2020 when COVID restrictions were in full swing. They both noticed a decline in overall kindness…and also were fully aware of the lack of women’s clothing stores options in their small, rural hometown. A midnight brainstorm text exchange led them to a quote: “We get so worried about being pretty. Let’s be pretty kind, pretty funny, pretty smart and pretty strong.” This is how Pretty Kind Boutique came to be the charming place it is today.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Mo co-owns two other businesses with her husband, so she is a natural risk taker. Her business sense was the driving force behind opening the boutique. She helped Sarah jump out of her comfort zone and realize her full potential. Opening a clothing boutique during a worldwide pandemic was a risk and challenge alone…but they both knew the need for high-quality, size-inclusive clothing was worth the risk.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Globe is such a wonderful place to visit! We would start the day with a workout at CrossFit Globe-Cobre Valley. To restore our energy, we would grab breakfast at The Copper Hen…they have the most delicious breakfast options. After breakfast we would explore Historic Downtown Globe, Arizona with all of its adorable shops, including Pretty Kind Boutique. With all of the shopping and exploring, we probably worked up an appetite. Bloom or Bravo would be our next stop, depending on preference. Other activities for the week would include: catching a movie at Hollis Cinema, visiting our beautiful Pinal Mountains, exploring Besh-Ba-Museum, and hiking Round Mountain Park.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would like to recognize all of our loyal, kind customers. Our success is a direct result of their support. We are a size-inclusive boutique because we wanted a space were every customer felt welcome and comfortable. What we didn’t expect was to feel so welcomed and comforted by each and every customer that walks in our doors.
