We had the good fortune of connecting with Alayne Wadsworth and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alayne, what principle do you value most?

Honesty. I think about being honest to who I am at my core. Our bodies speak to each of us and if we don’t listen then we are not being honest with who we are. A lack of honesty, detracts from exposing our strengths and holds us back from being able to connect fully with others.

There was a time that I realized the way I portrayed myself to my friends and those that I was close to was not my true and honest self. I was living a partial truth. Eventually, it burned me out and it caught up to me.

I worried so much about what others thought of me, that they would only accept me if I was perceived a certain way. How exhausting it was to be a fake me. I finally made the decision that I should be who I truly am, my honest self and if they were friends they would accept and love me even more.

Being honest with others is critical to building and holding trust. People know when you are being authentic and they gravitate to that or you will find better friendships that connect with who you are. Honesty freed and empowered me to do so much more!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
A lot of things! I have a warrior spirit that drives me to accomplish many key areas that I find passion. Over the years I have dabbled in acting and modeling throughout the county and if the right gig presents itself I jump on the opportunity to be in front of the camera. Although, most of my focus today is spent behind the camera as a Manager and Producer of videography and photography for a large international personal care company.

I continue to keep my toes in the dance world performing for large corporate events for most classic genres of dance such as Ballroom, Country and Jazz.

As you can see I have a creative brain… I constantly want to accomplish success in so many different areas. Each of them brings joy and meaning to my life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely start a 5:00 AM hike to the top of Camelback Mountain to watch the sunrise. Then it’s off to breakfast at Original Breakfast house, they have amazing french toast! After showers and getting ready for the day, I would head over to explore Roosevelt Raw Arts District. Home to art galleries, restaurants, bars and boutique shops. Then dinner at Zuzu’s! The steaks are amazing and if you are a dessert lover, do yourself a favor and order the crazy malted milkshake topped with brownie, chocolate dipped ice cream, malted milk balls and whipped cream. BEST EVER! Hopefully having dinner early enough to head over and watch the sunset at Hole in the Rock. I can call that an absolutely perfect day in Phoenix.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family and friends who have been my wings in life, they are those who encourage me to keep going when I feel I have nothing left to give. My family is everything to me. My besties Briana Tavano, Emily Darby, Miranda Mobbs, Dana Spano and Tenna Anderson. My mentors Ginger Woolley, Melissa Hubert and Joanna Leunis. The enlightening books I have read, “You Are a Badass,” by Jen Sincero, “Daring Greatly,” by Brene Brown, “The Art of Happiness,” by Howard C. Culter and “Think Like a Monk,” by Jay Shetty. Thank you for sharing your insight and tools that made you who you are today. Thank you to many others who reach out to me sharing your stories of scoliosis or debilitating injuries. I love the connections we make and support we have for each other. Thank you to Children’s Hospital for guiding me through major back surgeries and recovery, you knew of my dreams to continue to dance and I am a walking miracle because of you. My biggest credit goes to my husband Enoch who with all we have gone through has stayed by my side supporting me and giving me assurance that I can do anything I set my mind to. Thank you to many of you who continue to work with me and believe in me. I am forever grateful for life and all (good and bad) that it brings.
