We had the good fortune of connecting with Aleah Chilleen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aleah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Honestly at first I didn’t think much about starting my own business. I thought for sure I never wanted to be in the restaurant industry, I had no idea I wanted to be in the wedding industry either. Someone suggested getting married our back area, which at the time was a dirt, a run down bar, an old stage and a pavilion built in the early 70s. I thought they were crazy. I vividly remember telling them maybe if we add some grass and like a water feature then maybe but now?! No way. Well shortly after I decided to do just that. Then the venue quickly grew from there. I quickly realized my love for renovating and building, which was a bonus to getting to host the most amazing day of peoples lives! Hearing so many wedding guests tell me how our venue was “a hidden gem” just fueled the fire. I’m hoping to begin construction on my next venue this year!

What should our readers know about your business?
The Venue at Chilleens truly started off as something fun to do when I wasn’t bartending. It was never suppose to grow like this, but it did, and now I couldn’t be more thankful. A lot of sweat and tears and time spent on Pinterest went into every aspect of our venue. I wanted to build an oasis where brides didn’t have to stress or worry about a thing. I started off doing 1 or 2 weddings a month. Then every Saturday which I thought was the coolest thing ever. Here we are almost 10 years later and we are booked Thursday-Sunday every week and even quite a few Monday and Tuesday’s.

It’s definitely been hard and growing pains are so real. Maneuvering all these challenges while working in the business became impossible. I couldn’t keep growing while coordinating every wedding, so I found help. Which was so intimidating and difficult, how could anyone run my baby like I would? Delegating and letting go is a key part to success.

I hired my event manager in 2021 she started as an assistant I thought I just wanted a little help on a few weddings here and there. She quickly became a crucial part of my team and took over all of the day to day operations. This gave me so much more time to work on processes, spreadsheets and figuring out my data.

I never realized how much I could learn from data and spreadsheets but now I could never go back.

Our couples get the best of it all. They get an all inclusive venue that runs smooth and organized and an amazing team to run everything the day of!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Arizona has so many amazing spots! If I had a week to play tourist I would with out a doubt start at my place, we were on bar rescue after all. Then head to Sedona and spent the day hiking and looking at all the amazing scenery ending the night with dinner at the hideaway house, so yummy.

The next couple days would be filled with hitting the lake and Cave Creek for some bull riding and country dancing!

The last thing you HAVE to do while in Arizona is take Side by sides or jeeps to Crown King. Crown king holds a special place in my heart and I will forever be a big fan!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Wow what a tough question to answer! There’s so many people who have helped in this journey!

I have an amazing support team around me from family, vendors and most importantly my staff. With out all of them I wouldn’t be where I am today.

I can’t think of one single person but it truly takes a village and I’m just so thankful for every single person that has helped along the way!
