Meet Alexander Virgili | Networker and project manager

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexander Virgili and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexander, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The short answer is: passion. I’ve always been passionate about creating something for the community that could gather people together and be an umbrella under which we could operate. From what was just an hobby, I’ve undertaken many steps in this direction investing in my own abilities for public relations, organizational management and emotional intelligence.
In past few years I’ve created, managed or reactivated many associations and organizations like Corpo Italiano di San Lazzaro (NGO for disaster mitigation), Centro Studi Internazionali (think tank on geopolitics and economics), UNYA Italy and Global Shapers Naples Hub (both youth-led organization) just to give some examples.
Networking is foundamental but what really matters is having an holistic view of people, potential and having a clear goal in your mind.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What makes me really proud is the personal and interpersonal experiences I’ve made in these years. It’s wonderful to see people who struggled to find their way passionate about the activities we organized together and that spurred them to do great things afterwards. I see those associations and organizations as a stop that people makes during their lifes. Some can get the best out of it, other prefer to be less active. What really matters is to give our 100% in the projects we decide to be part of. It’s not work, it’s not mandatory, this is the beauty of it. If people joins is because they believe in the project and wants to spread information, support their communities or just have fun and challenge themselves.
For me, it has been a privilage to serve in many organizations, see them grow and then pass them to other people that will bring their ideas and personality to the projects.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting Naples, what are some spots they could take them to?
Naples is a wonderful city and it’s complex because has many cities within the city itself. The seaside, the centre, Vomero hills are of course the most beautiful places. But the true Neapolitan experience can’t exclude a very intensive food tour to try the best food in the world: pizza.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
What really pushed me towards this path is the untapped potential. I come from a very complicated city, Naples, in the south of Italy. Although having a great history and excellence in so many fields, only in these last few years Naples is gaining its popularity and is attracting many tourists from all over the world.
The same could be said regarding the people I have around. So many young talented people that decides to waste their time, not pursue their dreams or just not prove themselves. NGOs, associations, think tanks are communities within communities that can support and accompany young people towards their goals. I am not only talking about those who will use the service offered, for examples, by charitable activities, but the activists and volunteers themselves. Every organization I’ve led there is a corporate-like organization that allows people inside to unleash their potential on the field or in the back stage. It’s important to make everyone feel comfortable, capable and useful in their role.
