We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Plyler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexis, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?

My business helps the community by transforming a person from the outside in. This is why I named my Studio “Beautifully Reborn”. I wanted the name to have a meaning and reflect a person’s transformation from seeing their beauty on the outside as that transpires the feelings we have about ourselves inside. Those two words have so much meaning to me personally as well.

You see, as a child I had made fun of a caterpillar when I was younger and my father told me “to not be so quick to judge something by its looks because anything can be reborn into something beautiful”. Of course I was confused as a child and I didn’t understand what my father was saying, until one day my father grabbed me to go outside to show me that the caterpillar I once had made fun of, was crawling out of its cocoon and turned into a beautiful yellow butterfly. He said, “see ANYTHING can be reborn into something beautiful”.

From that day forward I always wanted to help everyone feel better about themselves, so I made it my mission to enhance confidence and beauty in my clients while embracing their individual stories. My clients continue to come to me because of the enjoyable and comfortable experience I give them, along with my honesty and dedication to help them achieve their goals in not only skincare, but laser hair removal, body sculpting, a brighter smile, and more.

Building their confidence in a safe place with a person who understands them

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

The one thing that I am most proud about is that I worked VERY hard to get Certified in Laser Hair Removal with a 100% PAIN FREE Machine. So I could bring this service to my small town, where I could help women like myself with PCOS get rid of unwanted facial hair that tears our confidence to the ground. I’ve been able to relate to so many beautiful women in my community that struggle with acne, weight gain, and PCOS just like myself! Being able to offer so many treatments that help with every single one of those is absolutely HUGE for my clients, because they found their one stop Medspa who can connect with them on a personal level in what they need and want to regain their confidence. I have become their safe zone.

Personally, in this Journey, I have faced a lot of challenges in my business. First off, being a mother, wife and business owner is very challenging and rewarding all at once. Once I graduated from Tucson College of Beauty In March 2022, I only had a few days off from School as I then enrolled into SAA Laser Institute in Mesa, AZ so that I could get certified and bring my clients a unique offer that was missing in our small community. But then came a challenge that I did not foresee, I had to figure out how to acquire a Medical Director and the cost of a Laser Machine which was super stressful due to the amount of money they both cost and worrying if I’d make it in such a small town.

I just knew that I wanted to be able to offer a full range of services to my clients who were suffering just like I was with PCOS. The unwanted Facial Hair, Facial Treatments for Acne prone skin, and the weight gain that comes with it. You see so many places in my small town only offer one service or another, but I worked hard to get my Esthetician License, Certified in Laser Hair Removal, Certified in Body Sculpting and many other Certificates so that I could offer a one stop Medspa to meet all of my clients needs.

I am very proud of myself for persevering and overcoming the challenges that I was faced with. I had so many relatives that told me I would never make it and that I couldn’t do it, not because of my drive but because I grew up with severe test anxiety, reading challenges and comprehension. So I had bought a flat letter board and put these words on it to encourage me everyday, “They told me I couldn’t, that’s why I did”.

I knew school would be hard, especially when it came to book work but I just surrounded myself around the ones who pushed me and inspired me to be more, that I could do anything I set my mind to. Having a supportive support system is crucial to overcome challenges head on. I knew the people I could call and break down crying to, would have the right things to say to give me that belief in myself as I preserved through it all.

There have been A LOT of tears in this journey over the last year, but I’ve definitely learned that sometimes you have to just go for it and not hesitate. There will be good months and rough months but at the end of the day you just have to keep trying and stay positive. It will pay off, you just have to believe in yourself. No business is ever easy. If you don’t face Challenges how will you grow? Challenges make us stronger and grow us to new places we never thought were possible. I am living proof of it. It’s about the choices that we make, not the circumstances of life that hold us back. We are the only ones that hold ourselves back.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Our little town has so many unique things to do and see from food to shopping on Main Street to being outdoors. We even have sand dunes if you have a side by side. The Gila Valley has so much talent you can see murals on brick walls all throughout town, painted by a local Brandt Woods, farm lands and agriculture.

Here is what I would do if a friend was coming from out of town for the week.

Friday night she would arrive and we would go up to The Branding Iron Steakhouse, located up on a hill overlooking Safford, Thatcher and a beautiful view of Mt. Graham. The view up there at night is absolutely amazing with all the lights of the city below. Eating Ribeye and enjoying the drinks on the patio seating area.

On Saturday we would get up and walk along Main Street. Main Street has so much to offer with a ton of shops from hair salons, clothing, painted murals and food. My favorite place there though is Copper & Cotton Lifestyle Co. The store still serves as an outlet for up to 80 different entrepreneurs who display their talents in the things they create. They were once known as Gila Valley Made. Such an amazing place to check out and to spend a couple of hours there looking at all the things is easy to do!!!.

Sunday we would cruise up Mt.Graham to overlook the Gila Valley and all of its beauty. The windy road makes for a scenic drive from a desert landscape to pines. There are Campsites and hiking trails that you can walk and unwind on. But at the top of the mountain before you get to the International Observatory you can go relaxing and trout fishing at Riggs Flat Lake. So we would just spend the day up there and having a picnic around the lake.

During the rest of the week we would drive around to the surrounding areas like Historic downtown Clifton and Morenci AZ ( about 45 min away) because you don’t want to miss seeing the gigantic haul trucks in action up there. If you head out of Morenci on Hwy 191 N you would come across a lookout where you can watch the Haul truck drivers haul and dump leftover mining stuff. On the way home one afternoon we would stop and eat at La Paloma in Solomon Az, because if you love Mexican food and Margaritas this is the place to get it. Small and tucked into a small community but rich in flavors.

Before she left I would have her go unwind at Essence of Tranquility. Natural springs are the raw material for the ideal place for you to lie back and relax. They have a number of natural spring hot tubs for relaxing before a great massage. Then head over to my place, Beautifully Reborn to get a relaxing facial done why we talked about our adventures.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
In all of my success and determination none of this would have been possible if it wasn’t for my husband Josh. You see, After almost losing my life on February 21st, 2021 in a workplace accident at an open pit mine that I was working at, I realized you only live once. My husband pushed me and motivated me to go after my dream of owning my own business so that I could be home with our boys and do what I loved.

So I began my new career and journey by attending school at Tucson College of Beauty in Tucson, Az. This was the closest school to me. I drove 2 hours every day to school leaving at 6am because of rush hour in the city and 2 hours back home to Safford getting in around 6 pm every night. I did this Monday – Friday for 6 months, so that I could become a licensed esthetician.

If it wasn’t for my husband holding down the fort taking care of our two boys (ages 7 and 2) while working full time to provide financially for us, my dreams would have never been able to become a reality . On his days off he also renovated a room in our house to meet City and State regulations for me to work from home. This was months of demolition and building to include a door to the outside and walkway, with a room that had to have a sink and plumbing in it. He amazes me at his skill sets and the things he has done for me.

He is my best friend, partner, and father figure to our kids that I could ever ask for! He was my Rock through all of this, as not only did he have to tend to kids and normal everyday life, he had to tend to me and my fears of failing over the next several months with so many tears of doubt.
