We had the good fortune of connecting with Alisa La Liberte and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alisa, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Body R-N-R is on a mission to help people understand the importance of caring for your body and that beauty comes from within. Clients have the opportunity to receive a lymphatic massage while receiveing a facial, IV therapies and perhaps a hand or foot treatment as well. Thus, busy clients can accomplish inner health while receiving pampering treatments. Clients find these treatments incredibly relaxing and appreciate the results achieved in only 60-90 minutes per session.

A big focus at Body R-N-R is on the lymphatic system, which is nearly forgetten about and often neglected. In common vernacular, the lymph system is like the sewerage system of the body. Our lymphatic system was designed to function optimally in bodies that are always on the move. Unfortunately, in modern day society we are not always on the move. We drive to work where we often sit hour after hour at a computer. Then we drive home, pick up take-out at our favorite restaurant or grocery store along the way, and then engage in various sedentary activities until bedtime (i.e. watching tv or back onto the computer).

Our lymph system is suffering even if we exercise daily, because the lymph system depends on muscle tone and contraction. The bigger muscle groups are not contracting while we are sitting. Body R-N-R offers a high-tech, low-touch solution with the BallancerPro. BallancerPro treatments involve putting on a pair of pants and then a jacket over clothing and receiving a circumferential and sequential compressive massage, which moves lymph fluid to the right and left lymphatic duct and into the circulatory system, and ultimately out of the body. Moving through the lymph system involves passing through lymph nodes, the mighty-little cleaners of the body. The lymph fluid receives a second cleanse via the liver and the kidneys and is either eliminated via the digestive system or in urine.

Body R-N-R is the first business in the state of Arizona to offer the BallancerPro, which is popular among Hollywood Elite and many NFL teams. We are really excited to be merging beauty and wellness in a way that is socally responsible in that we use only all natural and carefully curated products. Too, all modalities brought into the practice have been used by the owner, Alisa La Liberte MSN, RN, and found to deliver the results promised. Also, devices are chosen based on clinical studies, instead of the effectiveness of a marketing campaign.

As a Nurse, Alisa believes in educating clients on the benefits of specific modalities and will help them achieve goals within their budget and time-frame. Every client is offered a free 15-minute consultation.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been a nurse for thirty years. The most fun years of my early career were working as an ICU nurse; no day is ever the same. I later became a cardiovascular clinical nurse specialist, worked for a few years on clinical trials and then as a cardiovascular clinical nurse specialist for Stanford. I took a ten year hiatus when my son was young so I could fully experience being a mom. During that time, I was what some called a “super-mom”. I was in the class room make arts and crafts, in the science lab making volcanoes, and chairing various fund-raising events. With fundraising, I gleaned networking skills and learned what works and what doesn’t from small business owners.

On a more personal note, I have also been into being healthy, which isn’t always easy as a nurse. Working 12 hour shifts you do not always have the time to pack a healthy lunch, dinner or 2 am meal (whatever that is), thus are stuck with whatever is in the cafeteria that day, or order take-out from some local dive. Too, well meaning families often bring in treats in the form of sweets. Nurses, and other health-care professionals tend to run off of sugar! That being said, I took vitamins from an early age, had an interest in more holistic medicine mindset, and believed in working out daily. I have been shopping at Whole Foods since 1996, long before most people had ever heard of Whole Foods, I was seeking out organic food.

My reading interests were health related, and early on I was concerned about chemical exposures. Despite all this, I discovered in my 40’s I have Lyme disease. Thinking back I realize I probably contracted it around age 12 when I spent a summer on a dairy farm in up-state NY. This litany of symptoms I was experiencing lead to years of exploring alternative medicine and spending a lot of money (hundreds of thousands) on alternative treatments from methylene blue to ozone. There really are not too many therapies out there that I have not tried, although hyperthermia is one not on my list.

Thus, I believe I bring a uniquely informed knowledge base into my practice. While Body R-N-R is not alternative per se, I will offer clients ozone insufflations as an inexpensive and highly effective alternative to IV ozone. In addition, I will offer many of the IV therapies offered by the numerous IV therapy businesses in Arizona. Again, I believe beauty comes from within. You cannot have beautiful skin if the sewerate system, aka the lymph system is not functioning well.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Hmm, I have not been in Phoenix even a year yet. But, I love day trips to Sedona and Tuscon is interesting too. However, I live in Cave Creek and I love being close to things but not in the hustle and bustle of Phoenix.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In June, I attended a public relations workshop held by Nicole Myden. At this event I met great connectors, such as Mandy Holmes, publisher of STROLL and 101 North BeLocal and Matt Gottesman, Founder of Systems of Hustle. All three of these people are lovely souls, and these connections have lead to other connections, which is propelling my business.
