We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Durocher and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I launched the New View Advice podcast in 2021 because my passion is helping people heal from trauma, including infidelity, grief, bullying, relationships, and so much more. I was inspired to start the New View Advice podcast because I repeatedly saw so many heartbreaking stories in the news about people struggling with their mental health and healing from trauma. As a trauma survivor, I felt called to share my story and experiences in the hope that I could help others who were struggling with healing their own problems or traumas. I started my own healing journey in my early 20s after the death of a close friend. This was the moment I realized I had been living on auto-pilot and wanted so much more for my life, but didn’t know where to begin. Healing from grief led me to heal from so much more including childhood trauma, repressed memories, rape, sexual assault, and family dynamics. During my healing journey, I discovered that many mental health resources are insufficient or extremely expensive, so I created the New View Advice podcast because it is a safe space I wish had existed as I went through my darkest days. My original goal was just to answer questions from listeners who felt stuck on their healing journey, but I now also offer additional free resources (journal prompts, meditations, etc.) and personal one-on-one sessions. Over the past two years, the New View Advice podcast has grown into something much larger than I expected and has over 100K downloads in over 170 countries.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets New View Advice apart from other podcasts is that it is truly a safe space where people can feel comfortable being vulnerable. I hear time and time again from my listeners and clients that they feel safe, which is critical when trying to heal from past traumas. It is really difficult to heal if you feel judged, unseen, or unheard. I try to lead by example by sharing a lot of personal information on the podcast because I want people to know that they don’t need to feel alone, scared, or ashamed of their feelings.

Launching and growing the podcast has not been easy, but it has been extremely rewarding. Recording my podcast isn’t as simple as sitting down and pressing “record”. I spend hours creating and finding additional free resources for people so that they have all of the tools that they need for their healing journey.

I want people to know that it is ok to have hard feelings and it is ok to ask for help. New View Advice is about embracing being uncomfortable because the uncomfortability is often where we connect with our hearts and embrace change.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Some of my favorite places include: Schmooze (downtown Scottsdale) and The Henry (Arcadia) for coffee, Sandfish Sushi (Phoenix), Lamp Pizzeria (North Scottsdale), and Elements (Paradise Valley) for an upscale dinner.

I would also recommend a day trip to Sedona, which I visit a few times a year because it’s one of my favorite places. It’s so beautiful and filled with so many places to connect with nature.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would 100% dedicate my Shoutout to my loving partner, Evan Altman. He has been my biggest supporter and cheerleader through the ups and down of my entrepreneurial journey. Evan’s encouragement and support has assisted me in staying the course and he constantly reminds me of why I do the things I do and that I am worthy of my heart’s desires.
