We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Garbade and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amanda, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Habits for Success: Mindfulness: A habit of mindfulness is going about my daily activities with a mindful point of view, almost like a step back, outside of myself observing the situation. The more often I am mindful, aware, and open, the more receptive I am to additional information. I can then make more informed decisions. When I am mindful, I am more aware of my own emotions and how I allow situations and people to effect me. I can then navigate to a place I want to be. When I am mindful, I am also aware of how other people are feeling and what I might do to assist them in navigating their emotions. Basically, mindfulness helps me be a better person. Affirmations: I have a daily habit of using affirmations to better my life. Whatever my mood, affirmations help to bring me to a better state. Here are a few of my favorites. 1. “Keep moving forward.” No matter what is in front of me, I have a habit of telling myself to keep moving forward, even just a little, just keep moving forward, little by little, better and better, each and every day in every way. 2. “Everything will always work out in divine order and time for my highest good.” This affirmation brings about this inner knowing and faith things will always work out, no matter what is going on. 3. “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.” I have always loved this affirmation as it sparks that inner drive and motivation in me to get things done. Affirmations help lift my spirits. Listing: Listing is something I do to help keep all the things in my brain in order so my brain doesn’t feel so overwhelmed and full of stuff and so I remember the things I want to like client’s birthdays. One of the best ways to help me remember is to write it down, make a list. Some lists are static and do not change, or at least not that often, and some lists are dynamic and changing often. Breaking my lists down into categories helps me prioritize my lists. Some of my category lists include personal things I need to complete, work things I need to complete, cooking list, things to do with the kids, things to make/craft, and so on. A dynamic list might be a list of things I need/want/can cook, which helps in meal planning. If I find an expiring item in my pantry or produce going bad, then I put it on my list. Listing helps me organize and prioritize my life.

Amanda is a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, Life Coach, and Holistic Wellness Practitioner. After years of debilitating pain and stress, Amanda started to find relief in alternative medicine, including yoga, acupuncture, aromatherapy, and hypnotherapy to name a few. Seeing the benefits of such methods, Amanda went back to school to learn even more about these alternative methods, specializing in hypnotherapy, where she saw and experienced the greatest breakthroughs. What sets Amanda apart from others is her ability to meet people where they are and to understand their needs. Amanda offers customized sessions to assist clients in breaking through blocks and barriers from whatever is holding them back so they can live their best lives. After the session, clients walk away with a digital recording of their hypnosis so they can replay the session and experience true bliss again. Each session is designed to teach clients mindfulness techniques, tricks, and trips so these can be implemented into their daily lives. Covid-19 was certainly a lesson in itself, forcing businesses to rethink how they conduct business. This was no different for Amanda, challenged with offering in-person services in 2020 due to the high risk of Covid. One of the lessons she learned was going 100% virtual is not that hard. The real challenge was overcoming the mindset of not being able to meet people where they are without in-person services. However, much like anything in life, you never know till you try! Amanda found she has even more ability to meet people where they are by offering online services. Online services has allowed Amanda to expand her offerings to clients world-wide.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Phoenix has some of the best hikes around without having to travel too far. We’ll head up to South Mountain for some awesome views and a great place to get away from the city. While in the city, we’ll eat at Grimaldi’s one night, perhaps Rustler’s Roost another, and then take in some swings and drinks at Top Golf. The Phoenix Zoo is always open and the Zoo Lights during the Holidays are gorgeous! For a really fancy dinner, we’ll head to Roy’s and then take up a comedy show; there are so many good ones around like Stand Up Live.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The whole crew at Southwest Institute of Healing Arts, especially Dr. Linda Bennett and her Hypnotherapy program, helped break me out of my shell so I can be of service to others. Additionally, Dr. Robert Fuller, my Dissertation Chair, assisted me in obtaining my Doctor of Executive Leadership, even after the closure of my original school, These folks and the organizations they represent have a passion and desire to lift people up and help them succeed. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
