We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Fessette and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amber, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think risks are necessary when pursuing the life of your dreams. You want to take calculated risks, weighing the benefits and the costs. Following your intuition to help guide you on which risks to take. Overcoming the fear of taking a risk is the first step towards a goal. Ultimately, risk taking can lead to exponential growth and development. Taking risks has played a central role in my life and career. It was a risk to leave my small northern town and move across the country when I was 18 years old. I had bigger dreams for myself and I knew that those dreams could not be accomplished if I stayed where I lived. It was a risk to pursue my passion for helping others and go into nursing. At the time I had just finished a bachelors degree in political science. Pursuing a second bachelors degree, with the ultimate goal to obtain a graduate degree and become a Nurse practitioner would have sounded daunting to many. I was just happy to have found a profession I truly love. Fast forward to a few years ago, it was a risk to leave the hospital setting and change nursing specialties. Medical aesthetics is still a newer, growing field and most of the learning is through hands on experience. Since then I have gained so much knowledge and injection experience in a field where I get to help people feel more confident in their own skin. Over this past year, I signed on with a medical company that has invested lot of capital in me to train even further in advanced aesthetic techniques and become a master injector. An incredible opportunity I am grateful for. Throughout my life and career I have taken many risks and in the future I plan to take more. I love to push the boundaries to see what else this life has to offer.Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I currently work with a medical aesthetic clinic in Gilbert and a medical spa in Scottsdale, AZ. This year I am graduating to become a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner. A goal that I have been working towards for a while and one that I am very excited about. From there I plan to open my own neurobehavioral private practice as well as continuing advancement as a leader in anti-aging medicine. My behavioral health private practice would be conducted part-time from home through telehealth by treating patients through video calls. Part of what I want to do is to help people live a fulfilling life through behavioral lifestyle changes. My end goal for aesthetics would be to become a medical director for a clinic along with being a skincare master injector. Combining my two passions to help people look good with amazing results and also to feel their most confident. What sets me apart from others is my true interest in learning. I love being in the medical field, but I also enjoy learning about the world around me. I have a natural curiosity for the unknown. Outside of work I like challenging my mind and body through different aspects such as fitness, nutrition, social media influencing and traveling. What I want the world to know about my brand and story is that I see health holistically. Medical schools often don’t teach the importance of nutrition or natural cures to students. On the other side of the spectrum there are many health gurus or acclaimed experts that do not have a science or medical background and therefore can lack crucial knowledge necessary to treat people safely and effectively. My goal is to branch the holistic world with the medical one. To provide patients with the best treatments to achieve their goals. Whether that be through natural remedies, pharmaceutical assistance, or a combination of the two. You can follow my daily life and professional one through my two instagram accounts.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The Indian Bend Wash Greenbelt is an outdoor gem that connects many of the local parks and lakes within the area. In the morning I love to go for a run or bike along the paths. One of my favorite restaurants in town is Maple & Ash. Their brunch is particularly noteworthy! Ocean 44 is another one of my favorite fine dining spots. If you’re looking for a casual place to drink Zipps Sports Grill is the place to be. Make sure to order a zipparita. Two of my favorite events to attend yearly in Scottsdale are the Waste Management Phoenix Open and MLB Spring Training.Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Dedicating this shoutout to those who believe in me. To the ones who have helped me grow and in turn inspire me to reach for more.
