Meet Angela Zdrale | Designer & Founder of Liv Tall

We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Zdrale and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angela, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I have loved fashion for as long as I can remember, it is just something that is a part of me. Even as a kid I would change my outfits multiple times a day and always loved dressing up. As a grew up I pursued a career in fashion and worked for brands like kate spade, Tory Burch and Saks Fifth Avenue. As much as I loved fashion and surrounded myself with it, I always struggled to find clothes that I actually wanted to wear and that would fit me. I am 6’1″ and so it became a real stuggle. Throughout my career I always played around with the idea of starting a clothing line made for tall women, because all tall women have the same struggle. No matter what we are trying to find, we cannot find it, and usually sacarafice fashion for function. At the peak of my career, COVID hit and I was laid off from my job which was just the nudge I needed to pursue this idea and create the brand I always hoped would exist for me and other women like me who are looking for quality clothing that actually fits!

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
As I mentioned, prior to starting Liv Tall I had a career in fashion. I started in retail sales and eventually ran boutiques in Scottsdale, such as kate spade and Tory Burch for about 10 years. I then moved on to Saks Fifth Avenue where I handled the marketing, pr and events for the Phoenix store. What has been amazing about my experience that has helped me so much in my business is that I not only got to be around clothing and fashion every day, but I was also involved in all areas of the business from marketing to sales, to operations, forecasting and so much more. The biggest challenge I had when I started the brand was that I had spent all of my time with the finsihed product, rather than at the start or the design phase and product development side of retail. Now that I have been designing for almost 4 years, I have truly done all aspects of clothing design, retail and business.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a native Phoenician and I love Arizona. We would start visiting a local hotel and spa, either The Phoenician or Princess and spend the day relaxing and enjoying time by the pool. We would have to spend a day shopping, I live in North Scottsdale and enjoy visitng the Scottsdale Quarter and Kierland. She would have to experience a few great dinners and we would be visiting the Global Ambassador, The Americano and one of my all time favorites, Zinque Bistro. I would also take her to the Phoenix Art Museum because there are always such incredible exhibits to see. Then we would spend two nights in Sedona at the Ambiente Hotel and go hiking, shopping and then winetasting at DA Ranch, and Page Springs Cellars. which I enjoy so much!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
