Meet Ashley Cole | Krispy Queen & Registered Nurse

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Cole and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson my business has taught me is to give myself some grace. There are times that I get caught up in the moment of wanting processes to work the very first time I try them. The important thing to note is that things are not always going to go as planned. I have learned to give myself permission not to stress if every task isn’t completed the same day. Sometimes the best outcomes arise out of trial and error. Give yourself some grace. I literally have this quote on a post it note, and when I feel overwhelmed I read this note out loud. It has helped me time after time.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My small business is Cute & Classy Krispies, LLC, and I specialize in making and designing homemade rice krispy treats. Krispies are definitely my craft. They have been a passion of mine since high school, and as my specialty I believe this is what sets me apart. I have the opportunity to trial new recipes and processes to further improve my business. I’m excited about the opportunities for growth. I must admit that the startup wasn’t easy, but in hindsight I can appreciate the hard work, perseverance, and ability to grow as a small business owner. I’ve learned to reach out for assistance instead of trying to tackle tasks alone. I’ve also learned to give myself grace. I can honestly say that this has been a beautiful journey especially with the outpouring of love and support from my mentors, husband, family, friends, customers, as well as beautiful people willing to share some helpful tips. I want the world to know that krispies are my business, and I’ve a treat ready for you.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love supporting local businesses and funky cool restaurants. When my family and friends visit that is exactly what we search for. My itinerary would include breakfast at Blue Willow. Their cinnamon roll pancakes and beyond delicious, lunch at Riley Craft Pizza and Drink downtown location. The atmosphere is so dope and the drinks are amazing. We would definitely head to Seven Cups for their amazing tea selection. The awesome part about this location is that it’s right next to Gallery of Food which has a beautiful selection of locally sourced and house made foods. You can also find my krispies there! For drinks and an all around great time we’re going to the Tucson Hop Shop. This is my happy place and one of my favorite hangout spots. We will check out the food trucks around Tucson as well as The Pit. Coffee is a must at Espressoul Cafe, Tucson Coffee Roasters, and Coffee Times. For Dessert you can catch us at the Screamery and Cafe Francais. It wouldn’t be right if we didn’t hike Sabino Canyon and head up to Mt. Lemmon. We’re totally doing some shopping at PureLotus Scents and searching for pop up artisan markets. For a little escape we are heading to Tubac!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband, Terrell, is the best! When Cute & Classy Krispies was just an idea my husband encouraged me to pursue my small business. He has celebrated my successes, comforted me during stressful situations and failed baking attempts, and continuously shows up to help support my craft. He is also almost always the first person to like my posts on social media lol. My husband is the best and absolutely deserves a shoutout.
