We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Day and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Growing up, I’ve always dreamed of being the owner of a company that has the power to make a true difference in the world. Owning a boutique has shown me all of the resources I have that I can use to make a positive impact in my community. My goal for Wandering Lotus is to become a company that supports its community while keeping its eco-conscious, social-good values at its forefront. As a business owner, it is my intention to sustain a community of manufacturers and vendors with stories behind their clothing.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Wandering Lotus aims to bring wellness and sustainability into fashion. As a young girl, I had noticed the impact of fast fashion onto society. Due to the non-stop cycle of trending fashion, the lack of quality and awareness disappeared. Wandering Lotus is partnering with vendors and manufacturers from around the world in order to bring awareness to where our clothing coming from. The use of eco-friendly and sustainable materials as well as ethical practices is our most important goal. We believe that the families of manufacturers deserve credit for their beautiful designs, and we intend on giving each a platform in order to grow supporters. Although it is not easy to find small businesses that are in alignment with all of our values, it is so important to us that we only support those who understand the impact of their work. By supporting Wandering Lotus, you support families around the world!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Arizona has the best hiking spots! I am a sucker for the outdoors, and am are so lucky to live in a city that offers the best sunrises and sunset! Currently my favorite hikes are the Wave Cave in Gold Canyon Arizona as well as Hole in the Rock at Papago Park! An ideal day for me in the city would be a sunrise hike followed by a delicious Kale and Chicken Sandwich from The Original Chop Shop.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I will always accredit my dad, Steve Day, for my entrepreneurial goals. From a young age, I watched my dad build his business, Day Advanced Air Conditioning, and the way he was able to balance work and home life inspire me to want to be my own boss. With his support, as well as that of many others, I’ve been able to find all of the resource’s I need to succeed. The Nelson family has also been in support of my ambitions every step along the way! Cody and Carla Nelson are the owners of Northstar Communication Incorporated. Their drive for success as well as their support has inspired me to never give up. I’m so grateful for all of the resources these families have offered to me.
