We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Woodruff and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
One of my favourite quotes: “Wanting to be somebody else, is a waste of the person you are”. Each and everyone of us have so many qualities to offer, that are unique to ourselves. The older I get, the more I’ve realized the power of authenticity. Living in an authentic manner, is the way to attract those into your life were meant to be there. As for being a Musician, authenticity is what helps you stand out.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a singer/songwriter, based out of Ontario, Canada. I think what sets me apart from others, is the sound of my singing voice. I’ve been told several times how unique it is, and how much it stands out.

It’s hard to pick one specific thing that I am proud of or excited about. Honestly, I would say I’m proud of my whole journey so far. Since 2017 (When things really started picking up) I have recorded two full albums, an EP, and a couple of singles. I’ve also had the opportunity to perform not just in my city, but all around Ontario. I’ve even made a few TV appearances.

Persistence is definitely one of the key players, that have helped me get where I am today. There were times when I faced certain challenges, or wanted things to happen right away. Persevering through those situations no matter what was the solution.

One thing I’ve learned is to accept constructive criticism, but disregard the words of those who criticize just bring you down. Although I’ve been fortunate enough to receive mostly positive feedback, I have had to deal with people trying to bring me down. If I’m gonna be honest, it really bothered me in the beginning. In time though, I’ve learned how to block these types of comments out, so they don’t negatively affect me.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a big thank you to my family and friends. They have always been so supportive, and I appreciate how understanding they are of my busy schedule.
