We had the good fortune of connecting with Avani Reed and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Avani, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business actually goes way back to when I was homeless as a teenager. I always had the idea of doing something, ANYTHING- and I knew that I wanted to be my own boss. As a workaholic, I live for my work, but I now also live for my three children. I’ve gone through it first hand where I dedicate my entire being to a job in order to support my kids and they end up hardly seeing me at all as a result of that. Between them and my encouraging boyfriend, I felt that the best move was to go back to my teenage dream and start my own business so that I can be around my family more and make hours that work for me and them.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
For those that are just learning about my business I first want to say thank you for showing any interest at all! Secondly, my business consists of budget friendly printing services. While I’m not the next Staples, I do pride myself in every order I get and strive to do my best on a daily basis. Right now my business specializes in printing stickers for various people and businesses. We also offer flyers and are working on doing custom shirts in the near future.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d like to start off by saying that I would definitely take them to this spot called Red Moon. It’s a small bar and eatery that has some of the greatest video games. Secondly, we’d go to Harkins and watch a movie since 2022 seems to be the year of amazing cinematography. Lastly, we’d have to go to The Kress. It’s pretty much the only club out here in Yuma and you just can’t have the full Yuma experience without going to the club at least once.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to give a big shoutout to two amazing people. My brother, Quinntin and my boyfriend, Kris. Without either of them, I wouldn’t have been able to pursue my dream with the beautiful determination that I have been able to put in thus far. Their love and support has been my greatest game changer in life.

My sister, Chavey and my mother, Paula has also played a big role in helping me get this far. They’ve pushed and supported me just as much as Kris and Quinntin have and I couldn’t be happier to have them all in my life.
