Meet Bäsmini | Musical Artist, influencer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bäsmini and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bäsmini, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Being an LGBT Black artist in society when a lot of things are out against you is a big risk in this day and age. Starting out as an independent artist back in 2018 it was extremely competitive within the music industry, even today it is. But that didn’t stop me from pursuing what I love.
Over the years music has really taught me that it’s really all about risks. Opportunities come and go and when you get that chance, you should take it. The moment I did that and released music, it brought new people and things into my life I probably wouldn’t have seen before.
Taking those risks and releasing more music that is very different and so emotionally driven has taken my career to another level, mostly within myself. Writing the music and going to the studio to record, it kinda made me open my eyes more to real life stuff that happens and allows me to release it healthily.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I wanna start by saying I’m a Cancer, so of course I’m a very emotional person… It doesn’t matter what it is.
When I’m able to sit down and get creative, I’m able to visualize the entire project before it’s produced/written/etc.
Using those emotional connections, I can fit a visual or tune that really syncs and feels right. Personally, if the tune doesn’t give me goosebumps when I listen… It needs more work, and I keep going at it until I can’t anymore.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One place I’m always going to since I’m a huge hair and beauty products guy is YES Beauty on 51st avenue and baseline. Just the personal connections you get from them is amazing and products are even better!
I love to eat out everywhere, but one place that has been keeping my attention… Especially online… Is Angry Chicks! They recently opened a store in Glendale and I couldn’t be happier! Beyond tasty, the Macaroni is my personal fav!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wanna start by thanking and shouting out my biggest supporters for the years you’ve been with me and my journey through life and music. I wanna thank Latheycia, Reyna, Alizé, Porsha, Daisy, my mother, my siblings, and my close family for all of the love you guys give, the push to keep doing more music.
