We had the good fortune of connecting with Beth Scarano and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Beth, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Honestly, I was tired of hitting the glass ceiling. As a woman working in the construction industry was and is still not easy – although it’s getting better. I also knew I wanted to be more in control of my own destiny. Starting LaunchPM was one of the best decisions I ever made.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets LaunchPM apart from our competitors is our ability to be nimble and flexible. We operate independent of any brokerage firm, so we are able to work for and with anyone. I am most proud that we just marked 10 years in business and we are still going strong and growing.

It wasn’t easy – every business experiences its own set of challenges. But we were and are able to overcome by putting our head down, staying focused and finding solutions when issues arise.

The three most valuable lessons I’ve learned along the way are simple, but important:

1. You can start a business at any age
2. Doing what you say your are going to do is key to success
3. Building relationships, builds opportunity

I’d like the world to know that LaunchPM is made up of a knowledgeable, dedicated team of project managers that has successful track record managing a wide range of commercial construction projects for a mix of industries. We provide creative solutions and we are committed to delivering on time and on budget.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First, I would take them on a hike to the top of Camelback Mountain. Then it would be a visit to the Wrigley Mansion for drinks at sunset. To truly enjoy the beauty of our local landscape, we would go to the Desert Botanical Garden for the Chilluily Exhibit.

We’d definitely want to hop on a couple cruiser bikes for a ride through Old Town Scottsdale. It would include a stop at the Coach House for a cocktail and another stop at AZ88 for one of their signature martinis. There are so many great spots to eat – it’s tough to decide – Thai food at Malee’s, Taco’s and margaritas at Barrio Queen or Chelsea’s Kitchen for some delicious food on the patio – I’d let them choose.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate this ShoutOut to all the young women that have an interest in construction and real estate development and urge them to remember – “where there is a will there is a way.”

Personally, I have to pay tribute to my incredible Mom for inspiring me and believing in me. She had a long successful career with Verizon and broke barriers as a woman in business. She really set the example and inspired me to go for it. She would always tell me, “There’s nothing you can’t do.” Her advice was, if you want to do something, you find a way to make it happen.
