Meet Bill & Sine Kerr | Owners of Kerr Family Farms

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bill & Sine Kerr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bill & Sine, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
In 2020 during our summertime farm stand at the family farm we were asked by several customers if they could purchase beef from us, seeing all the heifers we raise on site. We have always eaten our own beef, but we’ve never been approached to sell to the public before until now. It was the summer of 2020 when shelves were scarce of beef, quality and production lines were not steady. We noticed how many more new customers we had that summer, too, and that our community was very interested in supporting their local farmers more than ever before, buying local, fresh beef.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We are the Kerr Family and have been milk producers in Arizona since 1980. We are now 4th generation Arizona dairy farmers, and we consider it a privilege to provide healthy, delicious milk for our great state. Bill and Sine are the owners of Kerr Family Dairy, along with their son Wesley and his wife Lauren who are our 4th generation. We love cows! As long as our cows are happy, healthy and comfortable, they will produce the high quality, nutritious milk we all enjoy.

In 2016 we began the Kerr Family Farm Stand in Grandma Kerr’s front yard. What started as a way for the grandkids to sell our homegrown sweet corn roadside, has now turned into a community summertime tradition with a full array of farmer’s market varieties and produce options! We will look forward to seeing you at the farm every Saturday from Memorial Day to Independence Day.

Our newest venture is Kerr Family Farm Raised Meats! We launched our meat boxes in 2021. We are excited to serve our community with the same high quality beef our family enjoys. We offer beautifully marbled, farm raised beef steaks and cuts in curated boxes each month. Check out our shop to see what is available.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
On the west side of the valley we enjoy the Wigwam for the leisure of golf, dining at Red’s or Litchfield’s. There are several new concepts opening up around the area like Saddle Mountain Brewery, too. Road trips to Wickenburg or Sedona are so nice for a week in the valley see more of the landscape and terrain change and history. Central Phoenix is a mecca for trendy restaurants and bars, and that is usually great entertainment from professional sports or musicians or art.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Arizona agriculture along with our family legacy of dairy farming is what has blessed us with the lifestyle and opportunity to be milk producers and beef producers in Arizona. We are so grateful to be able to serve our state in this capacity.
