We had the good fortune of connecting with Blake Adam and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Blake, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
To be honest, the idea to start my own podcast was more of a passion project than a business. I wanted to do something creative and fun and expressive, and doing a podcast on one of my favorite TV shows seemed like the perfect opportunity to do just that! I linked up with two of my friends who also love The Real Housewives and the show was created pretty quickly. It wasn’t until we had been doing the show consistently for a year or so when we started thinking of ways to really amplify our voices and broaden the reach of this community we had created amongst our listeners – our church! Monetization was they key to this, and once we started working with brand sponsors the game really changed for us. Our passion project was now a full-fledged brand!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When it comes to entertainment, notably reality TV, there are a lot of opinions. I mean, A LOT. And you know what they say about opinions. So why did my co-hosts and I think that we were special enough to have a show about a TV series that people would actually want to listen to? I don’t know really, maybe it’s confidence. Maybe it’s arrogance. Or maybe there really is something special about the three of us – all from different walks of life – discussing the wide variety of topics that come up on a series like The Real Housewives. It’s kind of like The View, but more palatable in my humble opinion. Three distinct perspectives discussing a litany of topics and subjects that are being played out by middle aged women… what ISN’T special about that?!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I absolutely love Tucson. I grew up here, and although I left for nearly a decade, the desert is home. Whenever friends come to visit there are a few places I have to take them. Sabino Canyon is a must for hiking and taking a quick dip in one of the flowing river beds (if you’re lucky enough to see water!) and a trip to La Encantada for dinner or the top of Campbell to see the city lights at night can’t be missed. Blanco’s Tacos at La Encantada is one of my favorites! Downtown Tucson is SO different than it was when I was a kid living here! I love going to bar hopping on 4th Ave or to any of the many amazing restaurants on Congress. The Prime Rib fries at The Hub are insanely delicious! My friends also know that if they are staying with me, there will be lots of time spent with my three dogs! We love to go walk on the River Walk or play with new friends at Brandi Fenton Memorial Park!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to dedicate my shoutout and the success of our podcast to my dear husband the producer of our show, Matthew. It was Matthew who pushed me for months to start a podcast, insisting that mine was a voice that deserved to be heard! That kind of support was instrumental in the inception of The Church of Housewives podcast. Matthew has continued to hustle as the show’s producer, booking our A-list guests and helping us land sponsors so that we can keep the show going. I am so grateful to have such an amazing partner in life and business.
