We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Gonzalez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandon, why did you pursue a creative career?
I am pursuing a creative career because I want to show the world my heart and inspire others to follow their dreams. Being a singer and songwriter has allowed me to channel my creative energies in the right places, on stage!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It all started when I had the urge to become a singer back in the late 2000s. Around 2009 is when I began voice lessons. Around 2013 is when I had experience making my first album.

It was not easy getting to where I am at today particularly having* to do with self esteem with regards to my sound and my vision of heart.

After years of practice and years of performing on stage this has allowed me to adjust and be more comfortable with my voice and live performances.

My fears of judgement and performance was over came by simply putting myself out there and continuing to find exposure whenever and wherever I could.

I am very different than most artists. I usually hear pop music with a good catchy tune and it gets stuck in my head. My music, however, is all about feelings and emotional expression. I write about what is it like to be in love, to lose love, to find love and I could keep going and going. I write love songs from any and all aspects and avenues from falling in love to heartbreak. I choose to write about because the world needs more of it. With many hot topics happening currently, the world needs love!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many places in Chicago to visit! One my favorite places is going to Uncommon Ground in Lakeview, the Metropolis in Arlington Heights, Lamp Lighter in Palatine (these are fun places for open mic nights). My favorite neighborhood to visit would be Old Town, I love the history and setting. Another fun place to be yourself is Boystown in Lakeview (a Chicago neighborhood).

Great food is everywhere in Chicago. West loop has Fullerton market and it is a street with a row of restaurants to choose from!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Huge shoutout to my family who has rooted for me the whole way through. Another huge shoutout to my friends, you know who you are!

Honorable mentions: Katherine Macerone Sandow- you have changed my life by showing compassion and care. You motivate me to do good for goodness sake!
