We had the good fortune of connecting with Brecken Dale and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brecken, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
From a very young age, I’ve always had the mindset of wanting to be my own boss and start a business of my own. After years of working in real estate and in different fields that all sort of centered around real estate; I finally found a way to combine my years of knowledge with my passions of helping others through my own business. When I started Modern Agent Assist, the goal was to help other new agents figure out how to do their jobs and be successful without having to waste their time and money the way I did when I first got started in the industry. There is a tremendously high turn over rate for new real estate agents, and without having the connections or financial resources going into it, it can be extremely difficult to succeed. Once I figured out what it takes to do well in real estate I realized that selling homes wasn’t what I was passionate about, it was helping people! Since then I have devoted myself to helping other new agents avoid making the same costly mistakes that I did while I was still getting my footing as an agent. I love seeing my clients taking my advice, putting their best foot forward right from the start and seeing their careers take off!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
When I started Modern Agent Assist, I realized that while there are many real estate coaches out there, not all of them are helping agents in the same way and not all of them are specifically for new agents. I started my business to help new agents succeed but also to help them avoid falling into some of the costly traps that agents can easily fall into when first getting started. Instead of paying for leads from third party services, I teach new agents how to generate organic leads using social media and other tried and true lead generation strategies. I also teach agents how to market themselves and their brand effectively, how to talk to their clients, and how to help their clients through every step of the home buying or selling process. While most brokerages claim to offer mentor services, often it’s really just another agent that you have the ability to ask a question whenever you have one, but they don’t take the time to teach you what to do or what it takes to be successful. That’s where I come in, because I offer affordable services to new agents that are much more effective in the long run. While it certainly wasn’t easy getting started, once I got my first client, others slowly started to trickle in and once it rains, it pours! I’ve learned that being consistent and trusting in the value I provide really makes all the difference and it’s knowledge that I love to be able to pass on to others. For me this isn’t about making money, this is about improving the lives and careers of others who are in the same position I once was, it’s not an easy career path for a real estate agent, but I know that with my help it can be much easier when they aren’t having to figure it all out alone.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The Tempe and Scottsdale area are so full of fun thing to do, great places to go and incredible places to eat! If I was recommending the perfect weekend to a new friend in town, we’d definitely have to start off with an early morning hike at Camelback Mountain on the Echo canyon trail, followed up with hot yoga at Hot Yoga University. It’s my absolute favorite studio and I’ve been going there for nearly a decade. Of course my next stop would be to Snooze Eatery for their incredible corned beef hash and lavender mimosa, the best breakfast in town! Then head over to Lylo swim club for a fun day at the pool, beautiful aesthetic and tasty appetizers. To finish off the perfect weekend, it would be a tough choice for dinner. My two favorite places to go are SumoMaya which is a Mexican-Asian fusion restaurant I’ve come to adore, and Los Olivos Mexican Patio which has been an all time favorite since my childhood. Los Olivos is the best authentic family owned restaurant right in the middle of Old Town Scottsdale, which makes the perfect spot if you also want to explore the downtown area, see the beautiful civic center park, or stop by one of the near by bars for a quick drink before your meal.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
If it wasn’t for the support and knowledge I gained while working under The Emiliano Group at West USA Realty, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Emiliano Mendoza and Tracy Oliva of the Oliva Team are not only incredible people but they have so much experience in the industry and taught me so much. Thank you for everything you’ve done to help me and my career every step of the way!
