We had the good fortune of connecting with Bridgette Borzillo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bridgette, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to create a nonjudgmental environment for dancers to learn from one another, putting egos aside, and always push them to be their best in dance as well as life. We have accomplished this with CaZo Dance Theatre (established 2014) and now we are expanding into our own space to enrich lives, build confidence, discipline, and have fun with CaZo Dance Center. We ensure that the instruction doesn’t force technique or over stretch and builds strength within each individual body. I have seen too many injuries with young dancers that don’t warm up or stretch properly and were forced to look like everyone else in the group. We want the dancers to be individuals instill work ethic so they can achieve their goals.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
CaZo Dance Theatre proudly creates full-length dance stories that are easy to follow, exciting, and takes viewers on an emotional rollercoaster. We create unforgettable experiences because when audience members enter the theatre, we have entertainment going on to get them in the mood for the show. We have been around for 6 seasons and are excited to have our own studio to cal home, CaZo Dance Center, Mesa Arizona, where we can share our passion for dance, storytelling, and build confidence through dance. We would not be where we are today if it wasn’t for the very generous studios that opened their doors to us in our first season (Dulce Dance Company, Ballet Fusion Fitness, Adage Dance Studio, Dancers Domain). In our second season, we were chosen to be an Artist in Residence With NueBox. After our residency, we applied to an Education Resident at Mesa Arts Center, which became our home for 4 years. Building our Brand and audience in Phoenix has been difficult because there are so many entertainment opportunities to choose from. We compete with live sports, theatre, Comedy venues, and many other local and national dance companies. We have learned to push through and continue to share our message of love and creating a family-like atmosphere for those who dance for us. We love touching the souls of our audience and students and that’s what keeps us going.
