We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Wise and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittany, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
As a working mom, we hear a lot about finding balance. I feel like the most important thing that I’ve shown my kids (ages 8 & 6), is that when you are passionate, it’s okay to be all-in. Some days I’m not able to spend as much with them as I think I should. The early days of building a business took all my time and focus which inevitably led to lots of mom-guilt. When I could, I included the kids in helping build our brick & mortar business. When I could, I explained to them on a level that they could understand, what my goals were for that day and why it was important for me to finish those tasks so that I could spend more time with them later.
While the days were long, however, other days I had more flexibility so that I could be spontaneous and do fun things that I wouldn’t normally get to do if I working my former engineering position.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I own Red Effect Infrared Fitness here in North Phoenix at The Shops at Norterra. We are first to market here in Arizona offering all our classes under infrared therapy! We offer hour-long Interval Training, Barre, Yoga classes under infrared, and also have 5 personal Infrared Saunas in the studio.
We opened Red Effect in January 2021– not an easy task! However, we truly believe in health + wellness and the benefits that infrared can provide the community. Infrared heat is very gentle. It provides all the healthy benefits of natural sunlight without any of the dangerous effects of solar radiation. With near, mid, and far rays, infrared penetrates your skin and heats the core of your body. Infrared benefits include reducing joint pain, improves skin appearance, and helps our Members burn more calories in every class.
We’ve learned that over the past 18 months, staying healthy is more important now than it has ever been before!
Our biggest lessons have been to listening to our community, building a welcoming family for all fitness levels, offering small personal classes with more options. We are all motivated that we are getting stronger, together.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Our favorite spots in the area are Sorso Wine Bar at the Scottsdale Quarter, Raven’s View near Bartlett Lake, and The Sicilian Butcher in North Phoenix!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Now that I’ve started my second business, my husband, Jordan, continues to support my ambitions! Some days I come home with grand ideas and he calmly listens to my ideas while I try to figure out how to make them a reality.
