We had the good fortune of connecting with Carlos Mendivil and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carlos, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks has opened countless doors to opportunities that otherwise wouldn’t have been available. Getting started is a learning process, but it pays off in the long run if you’re committed to your craft, emphasize the strengths in the services you offer, and develop a strong network.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My main focus is design, web development, and marketing. I enjoy taking someone’s idea from concept to completion. I have a unique style that combines clean and modern design elements with bold colors. I’m excited to continue developing my style of design along with my brand.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Downtown Phoenix to watch Sun & Diamondback games, Old Town Scottsdale for nightlife
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely, the first person that comes to mind is my good friend and Co-Founder of Mya Kai Creative Mike Jackson. He’s incredibly talented, earning multiple awards in multiple digital media platforms (web, video, marketing, etc).
– Mimi Roberts (New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs) Mimi and her family were some the most influential people early in my career. Her networking skills are incredible and the opportunities that she presented helped catapult my career to where it is now.
– Miriam Langer (New Mexico Highlands University Department Chair) The curriculum setup at NMHU, allowed me to gain critical real world experience through programs such as PICT (Program of Interactive Cultural Technology), ADP (Advance Design Practice), & Americorps Cultural Technology Program.
