We had the good fortune of connecting with Chavonne Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chavonne, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always had an entrepreneurial mindset since I was a child. So it was only fitting that I pursue it head on in my adulthood. I wanted to create opportunities for myself and my family. My goal is to leave a legacy and to forge a path towards generational wealth for the generation in my family. The only way I could see myself accomplishing those goals was to start investing and starting my own business.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have two brands and one family business in the works. I have my apparel and accessories brand (AC Stock Apparel) and my personal cooking / crafting brand (Just AskChavonne). I am also a self-published cookbook author! My father and I are huge on giving back to communities and helping others so we’re working on creating a small business consulting business to help small businesses with startups, branding, marketing, networking, etc. As I said I’m all about family and generational wealth, so my goal is to leave a legacy for my family!
Entrepreneurship is not an easy title to carry, but if you continue to persevere and work towards your goals anything is possible. I got where I am today by not giving up, remembering my why, and remaining consistent to pursue my dreams. Yes, I sacrificed some extra hours of sleep and time with family and friends, but now I’m starting to enjoy the fruits of my labor which is very rewarding. I’ve learned that it’s okay to take time for yourself to meditate and to rest , selfcare is a must in this line of work. I just want everyone to know that generational wealth and financial freedom is in everyone’s reach. No one is too young or too old, but just always stay true to your why, keep God first and everything that your heart desires will manifest but you just need to keep pressing forward.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being that I’m from NJ, but currently reside in PA I have a good amount of options to create an itinerary. There are great wineries in my area so of course that would be on list. I don’t live too far from the casino and downtown area so there’s an awesome strip that has hookah where you can sit outside (to social distance of course) and this really good Mexican restaurant that’s called El Jefe that’s open until like 2AM. Depending on the season there’s always the shore and of course northern Jersey / NYC is always an option as well. I personally love to travel and visit other states, mainly to explore different eateries because I love food and love to eat out to experience different atmospheres.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Of course the backbone of my support system is my mom, my dad, my brother, my other half Isiah, and my friends. In terms of mentoring I would like to take the time out to recognize Jasmine Hill-Carter and for encouragement my sisters Dymond and Toya (Yara). But the most important dedication of all is to my daughter, Terri. She has inspired me and motivated more than I could ever imagine. I thank God everyday for blessing me and allowing me to be your mom.
