We had the good fortune of connecting with Chelsea Love and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chelsea, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
I wrote this book in the middle of the pandemic and the response has been overwhelming. There has not been any guidance, strategy or tools to address the chaos, confusion, and difficult situations that many of us have found ourselves in. Our parents, nor our grandparents have lived through what we are all experiencing. This is a season of our lives that we are still learning to navigate, even almost two years later. So I decided to create an inspirational brand that reconnects people and promotes authentic conversations through vivid multimedia, thought-provoking literature and engaging events.
Everyday we are equipping men and women with strategies and practical tips to breakthrough traditional thought processes and chart their own unique journey to fulfill their purpose and destiny.
What should our readers know about your business?
I released my first book and graduated from the 2021 Local First Arizona’s “We Rise Business Accelerator” Program – a 6 month cohort that will help grow and set the foundation for my first business, The Counter Life Movement (CLM), slated to launch in 2022. CLM is a haven for people are seeking tools/inspiration to navigate in a post-pandemic society and is designed to encourage healthy relationships by providing inspiration and hope through multimedia, literature and events.
Writing a book was incredibly challenging, but I had an incredible mentor who guided me through the process and encouraged me along the way.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’ve had several friends visit Phoenix for the first time and I absolutely love planning an itinerary that shows them some of my favorite spots.
8:00a – Hike Dreamy Draw Mountain
10:00a – Go to Snooze for breakfast (the marscapone on the pancakes are heavenly)
12:00 noon – See a play at the Black Theatre Troupe
3:00 p – Lunch @ LoLo’s Chicken & Waffles
6:00 p – Watch the sunset – Drive up South Mountain
7:00 p – Dinner @ Buck & Rider (Try the Garlic Shrimp Risotto… yum)
9:00 p – Private Karaoke @ August Karaoke Box
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As a creative, I’ve often struggled with focusing on a single project long enough to complete it without it being all over the place. Sometimes my ideas are disjointed and the execution of them can be sporadic and unorganized. However, my mentor, Isha Cogborn, Personal Brand Strategist and Founder of Epiphany Institute, was not put off by my disheveled vision. She didn’t shame me or even look down on me. She encouraged me, was knowledgable, confident and experienced enough to take all of my little pieces and make sense of them. She is a phenomenal asset to the City of Phoenix. Not only does she teach other start-ups strategies and tips for success, she is also actively speaking, leading and growing her own brand. I was partnered with her through the Local First Arizona’s We Rise Black Business Accelerator. Although the program has ended, our relationship will continue. I can not speak enough about how much she helped me establish a consistent vision and framework for my vision.
