We had the good fortune of connecting with Cherie Pittman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cherie, how do you think about risk?
1 question. If fear of “risk” wasn’t a thing or an emotion or thought, what would you do or what would you be doing right now in life? How many times have you let fear control you and your life?

I tried to let fear of “risk” stop me when I decided to quit my job at a Medspa and open my own skincare practice. I started my business with zero clients, a whole lot of faith, and a passion for fulfilling a dream that was created in Cosmetology school in 2006. I kept saying “what if I fail, this is a huge risk” and my husband said, “there is no plan b and there is no option for failure, and you will make it work.”

I opened my business in a tiny 97 sq ft room inside a very old salon at Alma School and University. Fast forward 1 year and a few months later and I had outgrown that tiny room and I needed to expand. I started looking for a commercial storefront and I found the perfect one at Dobson and Guadalupe. I dreamed of it for weeks and then the day came to sign that long-term lease and fear of risk set in and I wanted to bail. My tiny 97 sq ft room was my safe space. My mom, husband, and several clients helped me get over that fear of risk because they believed in me, my mission and knew moving was the right direction to go.

After I signed my lease I was no longer scared because I knew there was no turning back and again, failure is not an option. What I learned was letting go of the fear of risk is the most freeing thing that you can ever do for yourself. Fear will keep you in your box. Underneath your fears lie great opportunities.

Moving my business was the best business decision I have ever made!

What should our readers know about your business?
I own and operate CP Studio Aesthetics as a solo Aesthetician. I have dedicated my entire life and career to helping women 30-60 transform their skin from DRAB to FAB with corrective and progressive skincare treatments and solutions. I specialize in Acne, Age-management, Pigmentation, and Microneedling. Helping women feel more confident in their appearance is what I live for and it is so rewarding to see and hear their excitement when we clear their skin of acne, pigmentation, reduce wrinkles, and achieve healthy, beautiful-looking, and feeling skin!

Our appearance is the first thing judged and it can affect our self-confidence when there is something about ourselves that we don’t like. I treat the skin from a holistic approach because our skin is a two-sided organ. I educate my clients on the importance of correcting skin issues internally by improving gut health and then treating topically with our clinical-grade skincare products and treatments.

I am a die-hard continuing education lover. I take so many continuing educations classes on all things skin and ingredients in skincare products because our industry is rapidly changing. I need to know how I can best serve my clients and help them get the results that they are looking for. I love learning and educating them on how we can reach their skin goals!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Any luxury poolside resort such as Arizona Grande Resort or Pointe Hilton Resort is where you would find us! For food, I am always trying new places, but it is a challenge because I am dairy-free, egg-free, gluten-free, and corn-free so eating out has its challenges, and it’s something that I don’t do often as many places can not accommodate my dietary restrictions. Some places that I can eat at are: The Hub in Mesa, Intentional Foods in Mesa, and Salad and Go,

To be honest, I love to travel outside of AZ and I explore more outside of AZ than I do AZ. Give me Disneyland, Disneyworld, the beach, and Hawaii that’s where I would take a friend coming to visit.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are several people that I would like to give thanks to for helping me get to where I am now with my business and career. First, my husband, Jason. He renovated my first 97 sq ft room! I mean gutted it and started over from scratch, spent hours and hours to get it perfect and to fulfill my vision and dreams, then when we moved my business to the 1200 sq ft storefront, we started over again with the renovations!

Second, I would like to thank my mom, Tricia for helping me with my continuing education, giving me pep talks along the way, and helping with the renovation of my current location.

Third, my client and church friend, Linda, and our friends Brittney and Rob for helping us with paint and other renovation duties that had to get done on the time crunch deadline for my move-in date.

Fourth, my children for believing me more than anything and spending many long hours with us while we got things done.

We spent many long hours working on the renovations, time away for our children, work, and other life duties.  We were tired, we were cranky, our bodies hurt, we were stressed, and we just wanted to get done and move in. It was probably a poor decision on my part to renovate and move my business during Thanksgiving and Christmas, but hey life lessoned learned!

I would also like to thank my clients for believing in me to be their Aesthetician and skincare professional. Without my clients, I wouldn’t have a business. SO thank you for coming back month after month and trusting me with your skin and beautiful face!
