We had the good fortune of connecting with Cherish Yazzie-Hart and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cherish, how does your business help the community?
Our business was developed to help women and men of color navigate through the beauty industry. Often times many of our clients speak of how they don’t feel confident in name brand stores like Sephora or Ulta. That’s where Cherish Skin steps in. We offer different shade matching to any of our formulas. We cater to those who need help or seek information on skincare and cosmetic products. This makes it easy for our customers to select certain products and helps them to feel their absolute best when it comes to our products and services.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Cherish Skin is an Afro-Indigenous Owned, Sister-owned skincare line designed to calm, soothe, exfoliate, balance & smooth your skin. Founded in 2019, Cherish Skin has been dedicated to curating unique-skincare and makeup bundles with perfect formulas to help CHERISH & maintain beautiful skin! This is what sets us apart from others. We combine this with other services to serve the Great Navajo Nation and beyond. We are the most proud and excited about how we are able to bring in person services like shade matching to our products when we do pop-up shops across the Navajo reservation. We also have garnered much support through our social media platforms. That plays a huge part of our success. It is not always easy to overcomes challenges we face as small business owners however with the support we receive we would never consider giving up on our business. One of the biggest lessons learned is always have an open mind and that support can come from the unlikeliest of places. We would want the world to know that Cherish Skin is going to go far and one of our biggest goals is that our products reach everyone even beyond the reservation lines. Our mission is very simple, be unique, be bold, and stand out. Cherish your skin.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The number one place I would take some who is visiting the city is Downtown Phoenix for first Fridays. There are plenty of small business there we would love to support. We could smell candles, get some authentic pulled pork sandwiches’ and listen to music.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout is dedicated to my community. If it was not for my community I would not be where I am today. They support and motivate me to run my business. They always provide love, encouragement which makes us never want to give up. In return we do our best to give back to them in as many ways as we can. Our story means nothing without the support of the Navajo Nation.
