We had the good fortune of connecting with Jon Jon Kottenstette and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jon Jon, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“Some dream of greatness while others stay awake to achieve it”

This quote really hits home when it comes to how I decide to invest my time and money.

How many hours do we dream about what our future could look like, or what we would do different in our past.

New ventures are always just a dream till we actually take a step towards them. Our steps don’t have to be big but you do have to start somewhere. I remember growing up the phrase for finding a penny was a “A penny saved is a penny earned.”

I always look at business as simple as this, if I can turn 1 penny into 2, I’ve quite literally doubled my money. Add passion and drive and you never really work a day in your life. Working hard for yourself and what you love doesn’t hit the same as working for someone else.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a travel nurse full time based out of Phoenix. I guess what makes me different than most travel nurses is the niche market I work in. I specifically work in Pediatric surgery. This niche takes me to many different places around the United States. From Arizona to Connecticut I have had the opportunity to fly and drive through this beautiful country.

For me I would want people to know that whether I’m filming, taking people out on the water, dancing, hiking, running, or any other adventure, I do everything I do because of my own personal passions and I don’t want to lose sight of passion, I love to see others succeed and love catching those moments in life.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Monday – Am hike on Camelback
– brunch in Gilbert at OHSO they have the best fruity pebbles French toast you have ever had. Did I mention. $.01 mimosa?
– evening dinner at the Stillery for a live band and some of the best burgers and snack around.
Tuesday
– Drive up to Sedona for a day trip of hiking, and site seeing, some of the best views of Arizona and natural water slides.
Wednesday
– We spent in the east valley with a morning hike to the wave cave which is located on the backside of the Superstition Mountains, grab some lunch at the Goldfield Ghost Town located in The outskirts of Apache Junction. Late afternoon would lead us to the salt river for some paddle boarding before sunset. The night time we head to one of the best places to dance in Phoenix, the famous Denim & Diamonds has so of the best country swing dances in the Southwest.
Thursday
Lake day at Lake Pleasant, a trip to Arizona wouldn’t be done right if you don’t go to the lake. The evening dinner will be had at the famous Barrio Queen where you find some of the best table side guacamole you’ve ever had.
Since dancing is a huge passion we go to the hottest spot on Thursdays called Whisky Row Gilbert lighting and vibe is unmatched.
Friday
Am brunch at Hash kitchen where the part starts with breakfast. While your there try the million dollar bacon. Sky diving is the game plan for the afternoon followed by bull riding and dancing in Cave Creak come hungry because the BBQ is pretty amazing as well at the Buffalo Chip.
Saturday
This is the day we get away from the country scene and it’s time to check out old town. No need to go anywhere else this day, shopping, eating and some of the best clubs you can find are all located within a 5 mile radius.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shout-out the dance community of Arizona. I moved to Phoenix, Arizona and didn’t know really anyone, but found the dancing community. This community literally changed my life and how I looked at what I want for my future is such a positive way. I found the passion of filming just on my iPhone and GoPro and trying to bring to life the life of what dancing and passion look like. The next few years are going to be big for my creative life and growing business, and the center is the people of this community. I found a family in this community and we all come from different walks of life but we all care for each other like we are all family.
