We had the good fortune of connecting with Cheryl Shaffer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cheryl, how does your business help the community?
My business trains individuals to protect the community. In the world we live in protection is important, it is also extremely important to have responsible and trained people to fill those jobs in. My company is the reason why so many security guards know the rules and regulations needed to serve and protect the community.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I believe what sets my business apart from other companies is quality product and excellent customer service. I make every customer feel like family and leave off with what they need and more. I am most excited about expanding my business into other states such as Arizona. I was able to get where I am business wise by maintaining a professional reputation and being a subject manner expert in my respective field. The road was not easy, but with blessings from God and the support of my friends and family I was able to achieve my goals and then some. I overcame challenges by learning from my mistakes and being ok with failing. In life getting back up is more important than your fall down and I tried my best to maintain that mindset when starting my business. I would want the world to know that my brand is living proof that you can do anything you put your mind to. I have a business in a field that is dominated by men, but I never let that stop me from believing in myself and taking the major risk of starting my company.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a big fan of geography, so if I were to take my best friend to show them a great time, I would take them to the Grand Canyon. The view of the Grand Canyon is extremely beautiful to look at, and every time I do so, I become even more inspired to chase my dreams. I also am a big fan of water and all water activities, so I would also take them water rafting. I believe being on the water gives me a blissful feeling that can not be topped by anything else. When it comes to food, I am a big fan of Mexican food, so I would take my friend to the best Mexican food restaurant that I could find. I believe some of the most fun and exciting places to check out in Arizona are the outdoor shooting ranges and watching the Arizona Cardinals play.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout my mother, Teresa Dowdell, and my sisters Charolette Brimmer and Sheronda Dowdell. They have been extremely important in my success as they have taught me lessons that are irreplaceable. Without their support I don’t think that I would be in the position that I am in.
