We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Loya and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christina, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I started my own business I was searching for something I loved to do! Through the years I have worked numerous jobs where I didn’t have the freedom and didn’t truly enjoy what I was doing I have a creative passion that needed a outlet , I was always spending money to decorate my home and that’s when Desert boho events was born! I needed to find a way to make money decorating instead of spending money decorating my home to get that creative energy out, We live in a small lake town that lacks anything “Trendy” I was scrolling on Instagram one day and someone posted a picnic on the beach in California and I took that idea and ran with it! We have grown to a full service event and rental company! I have recently quit my full time job and can’t wait to slow my life down , enjoy family time and plan events for my clients.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have spent years working in corporate America , I worked my way up through the financial industry with investment licensing , went into managing cellular sales stores and I have felt the pressure of being in a 9-5 job , moving up the corporate ladder the strain on your family , missing events , not picking your kids up from school, When covid hit I think that was a eye opener for everyone , what’s really important? I took the leap and started a business mid covid and I’m so happy I did , through this time I have struggled , working full time , running a business , I have 6 kids at home , managing a household , being a wife! But I followed my heart and what God led me to do, money isn’t anything if your not happy I encourage everyone to FIND what you enjoy doing I have tried many things , banking , sales , notary, life insurance and I kept trying till I found what I enjoyed ! My life did a 360 just quit my job , working out every day , investing in my kids , taking care of myself I hope to inspire other to not give up on the journey and find what you love ❤️

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh this is a fun one! Lake havasu city is beautiful so tons of places to see and things to do
First London bridge is a must! So we would go walk in the English village.
Next we would rent paddle boards, or jet ski and have some fun on the water
I would set up part of my business a fun cabana and picnic for us to have lunch order deliver from Angelina’s! Great charcuterie!
Watch the sunset over the lake is one of my favorites

The next day there are tons of other outdoor activities rent a off-road vehicle or go hiking

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband Shawn Loya has been my greatest support he always tells me the good bad and the ugly lol , he pushes me to keep going when I don’t want to go anymore, believes in me when I don’t believe in myself and always has the end goal in mind when I only see what’s in front of me. I wouldn’t be able to do it without him (he is also my master builder and my heavy lifter for all my events)
