We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Zelaya and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christina, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“Be the reason someone believes in good people” Karen Salmansohn With the current state of our country I do believe that anytime we are interacting with someone we don’t personally know we should take that extra step to be kind. Everyone has a story or have been through a trial and when they choose us for their preferred dessert we are extremely grateful and love to return the favor with kindness. Every customer counts and if we have the platform to give them a smile with our product and service, why not.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Churro GoNUTZ is where you can find a fun unique dessert option for you and your family! We sell Churro Donuts made to order topped with locally made ice cream and various fun toppings. We are currently mobile but are excited to announce that we will be expanding into our first store-front location in the west valley partnering with the best lemonade in town Cuties Lemonade! Even with the many challenges due to facing COVID-19 we are blessed to still be moving forward with our storefront. With this challenge it has forced us to adapt quickly by creating a to-go platform and a way to deliver to our customers. At anytime you may have to adjust the way you do business due to challenges along the way we just have to be mindful of the ability to easily adapt to what will work for our customers. Being a small business we have the opportunity to really get to know our customers and because of that we gained loyalty. Due to our loyal customers we we’re able to stay afloat during a huge downfall in the restaurant industry and we are very grateful for that. Veteran Owned & Operated
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
City of Phoenix is always growing and an amazing place to discover new places everyday! For breakfast I would hit the Morning Kick in Gilbert after a good morning hike! For lunch i’d hit Two Hippies near downtown Phoenix while walking around to some of the art boutiques. Dinner would definitely be at our favorite spot Food Truck Friday West to find our favorite local types of foods while enjoying a great atmosphere of different types of people and activities!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many organizations that have really been a blessings to us along the way. Here are a few! If anyone is looking for mentorship for their first 2 years of business within the catering industry I highly suggest the Prepped program through Arizona State University. They gave us more than what we ever expected from mentorship, friendships & financial opportunities. We also give a lot of gratitude to the Leadership Uncensored Master Class that Dr. Gene Herndon had developed and hosted. The information given has been a revolving tool that we consistently use to improve our business from the way we treat our employees to how we keep our business growing. Lastly but most importantly our family, friends & customers!!! We couldn’t be where we are without them and we are forever grateful for all their support along the way!!
