We had the good fortune of connecting with Cierra Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cierra, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Habits that helped me succeed in my business are plentiful. I feel communication is key, being personable, touching base often and making your guest feel comfortable and safe is top priority. I’d also include education as a top contender, you must always be learning, growing and curious. I’m a rule follower in the business realm so doing your due diligence on completing steps to be a legitimate business owner increases your credibility. I also have fun with my tribe and lend a listening ear; you’d be surprised to know my psychology graduate degree is put to work on the daily with clients needing a person to vent to. Habits are important to form success in business I feel specifically when they work, it creates consistent expectations for clients.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Chatting about my art, the forerunner that comes to mind is my personality style and vibe. I have a certain style that sets me apart from others. Maybe I could express it as high energy, laughter, natural beauty, be yourself kind of vibe that I give off and I hope to give my guests a relaxed and fun atmosphere when inside my studio space. I’m most proud of making friendships and conversations so easily with anyone who walks through my door. I feel like I can offer what they need and I’m knowledgeable enough to know the path to get there. I was able to get to where I am today professionally by putting myself in front of strangers. I wasn’t afraid to grow and mingle to get my name out there. I really felt that once someone meets me, sees what I can offer in skincare, lashes, waxing, teeth whitening, brows or whatever services they are needing, I can deliver. I am able to make a client friend feel comfortable at every appointment and continue coming to me. I grew quickly and continue to increasingly grow so my challenges, are more behind the scenes with organization of my business like client filing and going from paper to digital, social media, mulling over getting employees, note taking etc. I’ve been in clerical settings before doing aesthetics but doing the hands on services plus back office has been quite difficult keeping up with. Lessons I have learned along the way would be slowing down, being flexible and humble yourself because you don’t know everything. Mistakes often happen when you’re moving at the speed of light, so take a moment to breathe, pencil in time in your day for a break and make sure you don’t work yourself into the ground. Getting burnt out isn’t a good look. Oh, and also take time off in the form of self care, whatever that looks like to you. It’s something to look forward to and grounds you. Something I would like the world to know about my story would look something like I’m just a normal gal, here to change one life at a time, whether that be beautifying someone, being the only person they feel comfortable talking to, giving sound advice when asked or being your hype girl mentally, spiritually or emotionally. I’m an empath. Come as you are. That’s what I would like the world to know and see about me and my brand.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite spots in the city are anything outdoors. I love the downtown Gilbert vibrations with patio bars like OHSO or culinary, Level One Arcade, the iconic Gilbert Water Tower with it’s farmers markets and artisan art and ware. Just the whole downtown scene is a spot I always drift to. I love hitting up nature so hiking like wave cave, Usery pass or four peaks I’d definitely have in my itinerary. I think it’d be safe to say our lakes here to fish and swim are pretty neat and also the quick drives up North.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It’d be impossible to credit any success I have without mentioning my husband and kiddos. They drive and fuel me to reach for the stars. I don’t settle, nor shoot for mediocracy, I always strive for more because their watching and celebrating my efforts. I’d like to credit my dad, he showed me work ethic and perseverance. If I don’t know something, I know how to find the answers. I want to give praise to my school educators at AILS; Isabel, Shauny and Carlos all equally helped build my knowledge. I also want to shout out MCC/ASU/GCU as an alumni to all these institutions they shaped my mind and gave me grit. Giving credit to those that are woven into my story, reminds me where I’ve been and the direction I am headed.
