We had the good fortune of connecting with Abigail Schlesinger and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Abigail, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to start my business to help people by providing a way for them to connect with their friends and family! Charcuterie provides a unique way for people to connect because it allows for them to have a board that is an instant magnet for people at their event! When there is a charcuterie board at an event, people can’t help but attract to the board and want to try it all! I love having the opportunity to be a small part of all of our clients events! We have had the honor of being a part of so many people’s events and it is so fun to be a part!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We specialize in creating custom charcuterie boards for every event and we have had the honor of serving clients all over the state of Arizona! I started my business at the age of 16 with my good friend, Sophie Evans! She is now thriving in Indiana as she is pursuing her academic career! I now run the business full time and balance my business while finishing up my senior year and participating on the cheer team at my school! Through the support of other vendors and businesses, I have been able to grow my business and reach new audiences! I am so proud to say that we have served over hundreds of Arizonians and are preparing to expand so that we can reach more people all over the country! I have learned the importance of community in my life and how important it is to invest in your people, so I am so excited to continue to build my business that is based around the idea of community! I absolutely love what I do and I love getting to be a part of so many fun events!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love Phoenix because it has SO many amazing things to do and see! So, if you have been following along on my Instagram for any time, you will see that I often find myself at AJ’s Fine Foods! To most people, they just see AJ’s as a grocery store, but a hidden gem is their teas in the boulangerie! I have grown up going to AJs and I often go multiple times a day! Some of my other favorite places include Crumbl Cookies, Hannys in Downtown Phoenix, and The Soda Shop in Gilbert! I would take them shopping at Scottsdale Fashion Square, because that is one of my favorite places to shop and if there was a concert in town, I would take them to a concert! I love going to country concerts at Ak-Chin Pavilion or at either of the main arenas here!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First off, I want to give a shoutout to my family! My business would not be where it is today without the support of my parents, brother, grandparents, aunts, and cousins! Each and everyone of these people have worked hands on to help my business grow and help me come up with ideas to make my boards special for every event! I am so thankful for the time they have spent pouring into me, supporting me, and encouraging me to keep going! Lastly, I would like to thank Cara Dumaplin, owner of Taking Cara Babies! She has been a big mentor in my life and has encouraged me so much in business and life! She has set an example of how to lead and build a business, as well as supported me with new ideas that will help me grow my business even more! I am so beyond thankful for all of these people and the impact they have had on my business!
