We had the good fortune of connecting with Claudia Shah and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Claudia, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Centro de Negocios SBDC started in 2015 with the idea of supporting Latino-owned businesses in LA County in their own language, Spanish.

Our community that doesn’t speak English finds it hard to look for resources and ways to be able to continue with their dreams of becoming an entrepreneur.

Centro SBDC started providing workshops and webinars in Spanish on how to start a business, obtain access to capital, improve their online presence, etc. Also, providing the one-on-one advising has helped our community grow and develop locally.

The Pandemic was a big indicator of the need for our services and the opportunity for the Latino market.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We Help Businesses at Every Stage. Centro SBDC is part of a network of 7 offices that offers exclusive Spanish-speaking small business entrepreneurs with no-cost, confidential, business advising services, and no-cost training opportunities, across Los Angeles County.

We assist business owners in business planning, management, social media and marketing, sales, procurement, access to capital, and strategic planning.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Shop local. We will go to small mom and pops restaurant in Downtown LA.

Visiti of course Hollywood walk of fame and then head to Burbank or some other place nearby that has some shops.

We will go to the alleys in Downtown LA to support some local shops as well.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Latinos have an entrepreneurial vein and they deserve the shoutout. Women get my admiration and respect because they have to juggle multiple jobs and ensure everything is in order.

The Centro SBDC team, is native Spanish speaking, caring, and with lots of patience and resources to help and support our community. They also deserve my respect and gratitude for making my dream of helping our community a reality.
