We had the good fortune of connecting with Cody Graham and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cody, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I worked for a larger logistics company for 5 years out of college. Through my experience there I learned about the industry and corporate America. I saw inefficiencies created through a larger size company for both employees and customers. I viewed this as a huge opportunity to create an environment that catered to customers wants above all and gave team members the tools and autonomy to succeed. I always really liked the idea of controlling my own destiny through my decisions. So with all this in my mind, I started the company.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Neon Logistics is a third party logistics company. We create reliable transportation through non-stop honest communication. Our communication is our differentiator. We really are just that, a communication company. We were started completely organic without any outside funding and continue to stay that way today 4 years later. I would say this has been a harder route for us and it has made us who we are. A company that is able to make our own decisions with our customers and people first in our mind, not outside investors. I personally have learned that owning a business is much more difficult than you think it will be. There are constant challenges on a daily basis that we face. I have found that having a short memory for the past and a focus on the future have helped our growth. That is what I am most excited about, our growth and the future. We are looking to double the size of our team in 2022, 2023, and beyond.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I wish I had a week to show someone all around town! Since we are located in Old town and I live in the area, I would most likely recommend staying in that area. All the restaurants in this area are great – Maple & Ash, Toca Madera, The Mission are a few of my favorites. You have to hike Camelback Mountain and depending on the time of year check out the night life/ day clubs. So many great golf courses and resorts to relax at. I think they all have great attributes.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes! I really view myself as a representative of all of my wonderful team members at Neon Logistics. Everyone’s efforts really contribute to our ultimate success as we are in a very collaborative industry. Being really a service based business, our people are our product!
