We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Bronnenberg and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daniel, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The reason for starting the AZ Phoenixes is because there are few opportunities for athletes in our sport over the age of 18 to continue pursuing the sport that we love.
By creating these doors of opportunity for athletes post high school, athletes get to benefit from self growth not possible as young athletes. As younger athletes we develop good work ethic, team work, time management, and much more. But as adult athletes we get to challenge and fine tune these skills as we navigate them through responsibilities, priorities, and our ever changing balancing act of life.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Our story is about passion, and helping others pursue theirs. We are gymnasts, specifically trampolinists and tumblers, who pursued our passion of sport as adults only to find it nearly impossible to do so without sacrificing everything and foregoing huge chapters in our lives in order to not let our passion, dreams, and goals come to an abrupt halt upon graduating high school.
Having accomplished what we as athletes had set out to do, it was time to help the next generation follow their dreams, and reach their goals. But quickly we realized that no one should have to follow our footsteps and go through the same pain, anguish, and frustration that it took just to try to keep our doors of opportunity cracked open. So we took our knowledge and support that we had gained over the years to start a real path of opportunity that will be able to grow into a network of open doors for athletes around the country so that they can continue to learn and grow and they chase their dreams and goals in a sport that we are all so passionate about.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For us, our favorite spots are anyplace that has gymnastics! Arizona is a hotspot for great gymnastics and Trampolining and Tumbling (TNT). Google it and you will be able to find a great place near you, and hopefully soon there will be more availability for adults interested in learning as well. When searching, keep in mind there is a huge difference in parks and places that have trampolines vs. places that teach and train trampoline gymnastics. Our favorites that we go to every week are Aspire Kids Sports Center in Chandler and USA Youth Fitness Center in Gilbert and Queen Creek.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to the Arizona State Men’s Gymnastics team and head coach Scott Barclay for showing that it is possible and for giving me the tools and support to be able to make this a reality. Shoutout to NAIGC who created a national championships for athletes over 18 in Trampoline and Tumbling
(TNT)
Also a shoutout to the Trampoline and Tumbling Community especially here in AZ, who have been so supportive and have helped us keep moving forward simply by being excited for the work that we are doing.
