We had the good fortune of connecting with Curran Walia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Curran, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I take calculated risk. I plan for spontaneity.
I spontaneously make months-long and year-long plans.
Risk is essential for growth, but I believe it takes the planning to ensure the risk-taking works for you instead of against you.
When I tell others my story, it oftens look like a long stream of mistakes led me to present-day.
To a certain extent, my life really is a long stream of mistakes.
However, I think I learned from an early age that letting my mistakes work for me is the quickest way I can grow and progress.
I don’t concern myself with making mistakes. That is inevitable and unavoidable.
Why bother stressing out about all of the different ways you can screw up?
I would much rather take risks with the confidence in my ability to handle any situation that comes my way.
In doing so, I am able to take rational risks that will either be a blessing or a lesson.
Regardless – life goes on.
What should our readers know about your business?
Conscio Marketing is rare in that it provides conscious marketing for conscious business. Wondering what that means? Allow me to delve in..
Marketing, for a long time now, has an unfortunate history and tradition of manipulation.
Using people as a means to your financial gain, without mutual benefit, is unethical.
Conscio is here to change that narrative.
In the spirit of being as conscious as possible, we also only work with businesses that are either already conscious or are willing to let us guide them to being so.
Now, let’s discuss how we got here.
Through my background in philosophy, and general self-discovery, I found that I valued being conscious over all other values.
To me, everything else you could aspire to be stems from first being conscious.
Empathy, transparency, morality, and other qualities that you may find admirable all stem from first being conscious.
I found marketing as a void that needed to be filled. Are there other marketers? Tons.
Yet, either they fell short of ability, business practices, or implemented consciousness.
Moreover, I realized the importance of marketing. As something that can make or break a business, it is essential to be done correctly.
And, so, I found the connection.
Conscious Marketing is a powerful tool to bring Conscious Businesses to the forefront – where they belong.
I want it to be known that this is still the beginning. There are very intricate, long-term plans I have for Conscio.
If you come along for the ride, you’ll be apart of something much greater.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
To be honest, I moved to Southern Arizona during the pandemic, so I would not say I’m quite the best person to recommend places to go. However!
I will give a shoutout to my favorite restaurant in the city – Green New American Vegetarian.
I am vegan, and their menu is entirely vegan.
I would also say that there are innumerable nature spots to go to (which are really the only places I went during my time in Tempe).
Don’t miss out on those.
Even something as simple as kayaking on Tempe Town Lake was very pleasant. (:
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Way too many people to name.. so I’ll speak in general terms to ensure I leave nobody out. There are 3 groups of people (with some likely overlap).
1. Thank you to those who have truly done what they could to support, teach, and provide for me.
2. Thank you to those who have seemingly given me strife, pain, or problems.
It is through your presence in my life that I have likely learned my most important lessons.
3. Thank you to those who I will continue to meet along the way.
I have zero doubt that I have already met, and will continue to meet, people who seem to enter my life exactly when needed.
