We had the good fortune of connecting with Dani Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dani, what do you attribute your success to?
We focus our brand on curated artisan products that create everlasting experiences in your home, We focus on handmade tile that can be customized to your style, your color choices and your space to truly create something one of a kind. When bringing in new products and brands we focus on small makers with unique items that aren’t widely available. When you come to our showroom we want you to find things for your home that you have never seen before.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My love of design really blossomed when I was getting my degree in Architecture and Environmental design. The idea that the materials you chose to include in a space could inspire positive emotions in the end user really resonated with me, and inspired me to shift more towards an interior design focus. I worked for builders for many years, helping to guide clients through the design process to select everything from carpet to light fixtures to bathroom faucets, Tile selection was always a highlight for me because it was an opportunity to show your personality and creative side during the home building process. When a job opportunity arose with a luxury European tile manufacturer I jumped and made it my mission to learn as much about the design, production and distribution processes that made a successful tile business. When COVID hit we decided that the time had come for a change. We uprooted our life to be closer to our family upon which the incredible opportunity to own Artesana Tile presented itself. The first few month were tough; moving the showroom, being in a new city, showing our existing clients that we were going to maintain the Artesana legacy, on top of learning about materials from over 60 Vendors that Artesana carried. That time was beautifully chaotic, but we slowly started to find our stride. We still continue to learn and grow every day, but are eternally grateful for the warm welcome that the Tucson community has provided.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We are still new to Tucson, but definitely have some favorites. Top of our list is always to head over to the Mercado San Augstin for tacos at Seis Kitchen and shopping at Mast and Bloom Maven. In that area we also love to spend an afternoon wandering MSA annex and having a quick bite at Kukai. A hike up Sabino Canyon is a must or if Mountain biking is more your jam, hit the trails at Sweetwater. A cold beverage is always essential after some physical activity and our favorite watering hole by far is Tucson Hop Shop. And hey, they are down the street from our shop!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There is absolutely no way that we would have the success we do without our incredible team. Sara, who has been at Artesana off and on for nearly 1o years is one of the most talented designers we have ever met. She is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to handmade tile and works patiently with clients to help them create their dream home. Thomas, who runs the operations side of things is our Jack of all trades. He makes sure our order come in a timely matter, he manages our accounting and is always willing to help carry tile to clients cars. He pushes us to be more organized and have more efficient systems so that we can provide the best possible service to our clients. Chris is our master of IT and customer service. When he isn’t taking calls he is working on our software, fixing our printer and making sure we are caffeinated.
