Meet Danielle Lapriore | Massage therapist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Lapriore and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
Blindly Leaving New England and Moving to Arizona 21 years ago.
I had a great massage clientele in a small town suburban hair salon I grew up going to. Thought I’d stay in New England my whole life..my sister then talked me into taking a risk to move to Az to be closer to her and work on the spas of Scottsdale.. it sounded exciting but New England was home and had my heart.
I decided I’d move for one year and try it out little did I know I’d experience so much and worked for a chiropractor and worked for some spas built a clientele, but then also got to be the sons Massage Therapist for 16 years and traveled on their charter plane for six years so needless to say it was a huge risk for me moving out here, but it all ended up working out for the best

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I wanted to become a massage therapist because I wanted to relieve everyone’s stress… I wanted people to be excited when they came in for the massage and I wanted them to be relaxed and happy that they made the decision to take care of their health and wellness
Before I was able to get out of Massage school, I had to do an internship. I did the internship at this cute little salon that I grew up going to in my small little town and Shrewsbury Massachusetts. The owner gave me his top 100 clients and I got my hands on so many different people, and I was able to consult the teachers back in the school. Any questions I had. So when I went out on my own to spas and chiropractic offices, I felt confident that I could take care of the different issues that were presented to me. After moving to Arizona, I was always independent unless I was working for a spa… so it made me quickly learn how to build a clientele successfully. Then, when I became the sons Massage Therapist, I was still independent and had to juggle both the team and my own clientele which some days I was working for me in the morning until probably midnight running around Paradise Valley and Scottsdale to different players homes to get them ready for the The next day. Somebody may ask how did you do that… It was all a mindset. I loved what I did. I love the impact it had on people and I loved giving. I was also young so I didn’t need as much rest as I do now. Ha!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Chandler and love downtown Chandler I would start Going to State Forty Eight and buying them a T-shirt.
Then go to the brick house for a craft cocktail and pork skewers and Shishido peppers. Then I would go to Elliott’s steakhouse for a scallop salad and a glass of wine.
Then go over to the Stillery and country swing dance all night long.
Of course there’s always the needed, Sedona trip to visit the vortex’s and hike West Fork Trail.
And paddle boarding down the salt river is always so much fun checking out the wild horses

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Going to school at the Bancroft school of massage therapy in Worcester Massachusetts. I had a lot of teachers that were mentors especially Greg Hurd our business and ethics Teacher.
It is the end and out of business very thoroughly and made us all confident that we could go out on our own.
But as a new therapist, I was always really scared to try that right away
